Local store had a sale on Talisker Storm for $36 but alas they were all out when I got there. Should be in the "passed" thread. Oh well.

Mini Bell's on the train up to Edinburgh-- I can recognize the Blair Athol note.

Wow, that’s an incredible selection, and prices aren’t too bad either! What’s the name of that place and where’s it located?

Crazy, but in a great way. How long did it take for you to decide what to have?

Not long-- tried to find drams that would pair well with the food vs. serious nosing/tasting. I had a great laugh when my wife was told that cocktails weren't available, period-- so I ordered whisky for her as well. Fun to scratch a few more off the list.

A sampling of a few NFS cask strength single barrel drams at the distillery before continuing north to Speyside.

Mystery welcome dram from the hotel… I imagine it's the Copper Dog blend.

I've found that when I wear my GBS shirt my Scotch pronunciation ability drops by approx. 70% :P

So it isn't just the rest of us (except for Rich and Bruce . . . although after the John Glasser incident, you gotta 'trust but verify' that Rich guy).

Enjoyed a short pour of Glenturret 28yr last night - quickly approaching the end of the bottle.

Some appropriate dramming in the shadow of the Craigellachie Bridge courtesy of some fine and generous folks from Dewar’s.

Strathisla 12 from the petrol station down the street— just out of curiosity.

I've only ever had the G&M Distillery Label Series bottle, have wondered for a while how this one compares.

I haven't had the G&M, but I would think they're close in character. This one has been blunted by the dilution and caramel, but I can still pick up many of the traits residing in the CS Cadenhead 19 yo version I have. Too bad I can't bring this one home to try some blending with (although I suspect this very liquid is part of the "Blend your own Chivas Regal" kit I picked up).

I've been tempted to pick up one of those Chivas kits, I'd venture a guess that if they listed what was in those minis they might have sold out faster despite the proof etc.

Another gift shop pick-up for the hotel room-- the tour reinforced what a true gem Glenfarclas is.

And back to the bar for an Ardmore 25, Glen Mhor 28 and an educational Glenesk 12 from the 70s. The place was loaded with first-time Scotch drinkers-- the patient and enthusiastic bartender really did a great job with suggestions and progressions.

A “traditional” albeit NAS version of Ben Nevis— smoky, oily/mineral and gutsy. Picked it up on a whim, and very glad I did.

Agreed-- but even entering the car park at Ben Nevis was like going back to 1974, which was awesome. I just had a second to run into the gift shop for a smash and grab-- but scored bottle 6477 of "Batch No. 1" 10yo (62.4% ABV). Rumored to be some badass big Ben-- "an initial scent of fragrant aromatherapy oil in the middle on a base of planed hardwood." Yes.
