I've had this bottle WR double Oakes for more than 2 years, and it's always just been me. Well today that butterscotch note is just singing. This is following a pour of 4RYL.

Finishing up with a GBS EC 12 “Inaugural Barrel”.  That cherry note keeps hitting.  ?

Drinking some Kentucky Owl Confiscated. (Quick point of clarification before Big Rich busts my balls - this was a gift). It has a strong resemblance to OF100. OF100 to me deviates from the typical OF/BF house style. I really like it. I wouldn't be surprised if there was some Turkey in there as well.

Overall I like it. Wouldn't pay for it myself but am happy to have it. KY Owl is overpriced and overplayed but I have to give credit to the blenders on these expressions.

Now why would you think that I would do such a thing? ?

Do you mean Confiscated?  Or are you thinking of Smooth Ambler Contradiction.

I finished off a batch of Poor Man's Pappy and mixed a new batch.

Uh...we call that The SB Blend in these parts my friend.  It was never intended to replicate Pappy.  It was an approximation of the old discontinued Weller Centennial.

Either way, I like the taste.

Little sip of Henry Mckenna 10 I just picked up. I'm starting to think I should have just got the 1792 BiB I originally went to get... or another bottle of OG114 instead.

It reminds me a lot of WSR, but I think WSR beats it.

Curiously got the best of me. I'm human!

It's early on, but as of now $39 was too much.

Hey, at least you learned something fairly reasonably.  :)

At least you didn’t pay $70-80 for it, like I’ve seen some places asking for it.

A lot of people come out way worse.

The key is to remember in the future, cuz your brain will try to trick you into stupid purchases again sometimes.

I never bought McKenna in the past, and I still don’t.  Im an Elijah Craig guy!

Well, more display of humanity from me: I went to my other local (non-chain) grocery and saw the 1792 BIB for 31.99.  It came home. The grocery 2 miles away wanted $39.99. I'll never get booze pricing but that's neither here nor there.

Yep, this is the last frenzy purchase I make. I did it with a bottle of WSR, too, at $38. Fool me twice.... But I'm happy to make it all part of the journey.

BTW, ECBP B520: The price b/w the same two groceries I mentioned above --- 54.99 and 69.99.

Some KC12 while watching the Mets Braves game. Now if we could only find a way to get a W.

Started off with some HH6bib from the freezer. Man I love it this way.

Now sipping on some JDSiB BP.  What a fantastic pour.

1792 BIB, followed by ECBP B520, followed by ‘18 GTS.

That B20 is a rich, thick, oak and tobacco bomb full of flavor and viscosity.

I challenge those who may have found it to be lacking in some way to work, just a bit, to dial  it into their sweet spot (mine is between 115-120).

Why?

1.  A little effort can equal great rewards, and...

2.  Because it (any batch, IMHO) remains one if the few truly  great values out there, in the current market.

ET BiB to open up this evening. A late start, been visiting with The Miss & her Brother.  A nice pour to finish off an even better evening.

Cheers
