The recipe, I think, is pretty good. I failed in the execution. I always run the smoker and grill and rarely am involved in dessert so both my experience and skill level in that arena is limited. Basically my custard was not heated long enough and was just a bit runny. The caramel sauce on the other hand I went a bit long and as a result it is very thick (think melted milk dud) so when you try to scoop the custard the caramel layer just gets pushed down. Wife and I agreed flavors are there though. I would attempt this, or something similar again. Despite my end results the recipe itself was not very difficult. Although there was a lot of whisking.
