Guess it couldn't be any stranger than Heaven Hill finished in an Islay Single Malt cask…

These seem like the finishing suggestions of someone utilizing mind altering substances.  Or at least drunk off their ass.

In fairness, I'd have never bothered with a Blair Athol otherwise...

Blair Athol ('distilled at the Blair Athol distillery' on the front label!)

Higher than what i paid ($84). I think they are commanding higher prices in some places.

See I might of bought the shelf for $80. Green Spot is my all time favorite irish so I've been wanting to try Blue Spot for quite awhile.

Blue Spot...I saw a bottle in a store today. $99. Thought, well, it’s sitting here, higher than the $80 I read about on SB.com. Why not. When the cashier rang it up it came up at $399.99. Manager came over and said, yep, that’s correct. Obviously, I walked out, laughing. So, still on the hunt...

Some full sherry cask matured Laphroaig from Carn Mor. Great colour on this.

Got access to the distributor's inventory sheet and grabbed some derelict dusties, thanks to an enthusiastic local LS manager keen on learning single malts. For some reason independent bottlings have never fared well in this market.

I guess Indy bottlings don't happen in bourbon aside from anything sent abroad, right?

That Hazelburn is terrific, been a while since I finished mine.

Yes, five of the eight 2020 Diageo Special Releases. The Whisky Exchange blog does an annual piece on them if you’re interested in learning more— as you can find archived reports dating back many years.

I will be interested in your thoughts on the Dalwhinnie.  That was the only one of this year's releases that grabbed my interest.

The label alludes to the Dalwhinnie 30yo being from the exact same batch of 1989 distillate that became the 2015 25yo Special Release-- so that'll be an interesting comparison.

I didn't expect to find one of these, much less at retail. Also wasn't prepared for the near-opacity-- very different from the earlier expressions in the series. I'm sure the color added to the demand.

Picked up the Compass Box No Name 2.  Quite tasty, more smoky than peaty, had a melon thing going on, cereal graininess and some peppery spice.  Unique, quite tasty.
