I’m officially of the clock today and the pooch wanted to enjoy the nice day.  So I’m on the patio with a pour of a GBS Russell’a Reserve pick and a Exclusivo from Muestra De Saka.

Nice!  That’s a good one to celebrate with.  I zoomed in on your key there because I thought is said Cowdery, and I wondered what Chuck had to do with this story…😂

Then I looked up Cowdray.  If that is the Cowdray that Google provided, that must have been some wedding!  Wow!  If not, I’m sure it was a fabulous day, anyway.

I'm not sure what Cowdray referred to, it might have been the name of the suite. We stayed at a place called the South Lodge Hotel, local to us when we were in Sussex.

We didn't get married there, we got married not far from there and stayed a few days, but it was a brilliant day. There's a Michelin star restaurant in the hotel too, which was rather good.

As was the bottle of Van Winkle 15 we also had that weekend... :D

Opened these, soooo, I must taste them all. It's not a fair assessment tasting less than 1/2 once each, but here is a quickie...

holidays.thumb.jpg.c521d0ba37518ebccf8d11ab92d867fc.jpg

Tried in order...

Jeff Ocean Rye - Wow, barely a rye - very nice & dare I say smooth

Remus VI - ohhh, This is going to be a nice bottle

Bardstown #6 - So Is This!!!

Calumet 14 - Dusty; Going to be a mood bottle

EW BiB (my 1st) - Left the complexity behind, but may be every bit as good as ET

Turkeyday weekend is off and running for me.  This 07 warehouse B has been one of my favorite Kentucky Spirit bottles.

Fresh arrival into Traverse City this afternoon. Washed down a delicious walleye dinner at North Peak with this Mission Point Porter. Then a trip to Meijer for bourbon and bloody mary ingredients. No 750s available so I had to get the family size. Gotta get Turkey right?

Prost!!  Phil

Look at that bottle of WT101!  Bear Lake and Traverse are almost a yearly and sometimes twice a year visit.  There is a liquor store there that has a pretty decent selection.

The Jolly Pumpkin microbrewery on the peninsula is awesome.  Great food and brews.  We also like The Filling Station microbrewery and Poppycocks.

Probably a little chilly yet fun!  Enjoy your visit!

My pour tonight is pre-Thanksgiving Turkey...WT101.

Wait until you try 7 & 8.  Even better, and that's saying something.

Some Early Times bnb in the glass tonight.  Got to the lake tonight and there is some ice around the boat ramp.  Not what I was expecting or want.

I heard today on Q 95 (local classic rock station) that the eve of Thanksgiving is the #1 drinking day of the year.  So you know it must be true.

I decided to open an EW B.I.B.

Cheers, and Happy Thanksgiving to all

The WTKS was so damned good.  I wanted to stay in the Wild Turkey family and warehouse B always treats me well, so for my next pour I opted for a Russell's Reserve single barrel store pick from Spec's, also from warehouse B.   Also fantastic.

The turkey train is rolling now so I pulled out the RR13, in my glass now.

It's crazy the way that stuff doesn't drink its proof. It's almost scary😅

Lining 'em up for Turkey day.

I'm hoping that our guests will help kill the Longbranch.

I mainly use it in recipes. I don't hate it, but I don't love it....let's put it this way, it's just "all right,  all right, all right"😉

After bourbon cream in this morning's coffee (as is tradition), I am starting Turkey day proper with some Master's Keep Bottled in Bond. Damn this stuff is good! Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Gotta get out that Turkey, Wild Turkey.

Going to need it watching my Buffalo Bills blow it.
