Extra rye when vatting?

I was just thinkin' that a lot of the big distilleries make a rye whiskey, and so they

have barrels of rye in the warehouse. Now if I were vatting a bunch of barrels

of bourbon, but thought that the barrels that I had chosen could use a little more

rye character, I'd be tempted to add a few barrels of rye to the mix. Is

this commonly done? Occasionally? Never ever?
