Guest **DONOTDELETE**
Does anybody know the history of this product? I know it started as rye whiskey with a piece of rock candy in it to sweeten the drink and that it has been around for well over 100 years but very little else. I was curious if this was an early attempt to "rectify" lower quality whiskey by the consumers.Mike Veach
rwilps
Dear Mike,Up here along the Mon, rock and rye is a classic medicinal recipe - it's a cold and flu remedy, sometimes heated like a hot toddy or with a little lemon added. It's considered an excellent alternative to harsh or poor quality medicines, especially for children. My mom used to give it to us in the winter anytime we looked droopy. Come to think of it, that's probably how I started down the road to here.Ralph Wilps
