BUFFALO TRACE BREAKS GROUND ON NEW “MICRO” DISTILLERY AT THE TRACE

Micro distillery designed to increase pace of the experimental program

FRANKLIN COUNTY , KY – Harlen Wheatley , Master Distiller at Buffalo Trace Distillery today announced an exciting new chapter in the evolution of Buffalo Trace Distillery's pursuit of making remarkable spirits. A micro distillery is scheduled to come online later this fall. The purpose of the micro still is to accelerate the pace of the experimental whiskey program, the distillation of new, elite and ultra premium vodkas, further development of the organic spirits selection and what will be a ground breaking custom distillation program for consumers and connoisseurs of fine spirits.

Plans call for the micro to be installed in the heart of the distilling operations. "Our Yeast room, sitting between the Fermentation Building and Still House is of a size to easily accommodate the new micro distillery. It is also perfectly located for connection to our existing systems," Wheatley observed. "Additionally, visitors to the Trace taking the Hard Hat Tour will be able to see the new still in action."

"We are very excited about the flexibility the micro will give us. We will now have the ability to run very small batches of experiments. Fundamentally, we will be able to distill anything!" Wheatley commented further. Plans for this project have been in the works for about two years.
