Whadaya know, I'm actually early for a change. I received a suggestion from a member a while back to have Michter's as BOTM. After marking a few off my own list and my list of suggestions, it's now time for Michter's! I've only had Michter's a couple of times, so I really can't say much about it. The […]
I searched and didn't see this mentioned anywhere yet but forgive me if it has been. Museum workers uncovered a stash of Revolutionary era wine and Prohibition era bourbon & whiskey while doing some work in the basement/wine cellar of a historic home turned museum... http://wjactv.com/news/offbeat/gallery-inside-the-secret-wine-stash-from-the-prohibition-discovered-by-museum-workers Check out how dark some […]
I just read this and thought I'd post it here. http://www.npr.org/2017/08/17/543902701/chemists-say-you-should-add-a-little-water-to-your-whisky-here-s-why My guess for an average 90-96 proof pour is about half a teaspoon.
Have some coworkers in the Austin area willing to do some hunting for me. Any recommendations on stores that might have some harder to find stuf....particularly Weller? The Va ABC has set up a placeholder on their website for what I assume is a new product from Heaven Hill: https://www.abc.virginia.gov/products/bourbon/heaven-hill-american-whiskey-tasting-experience#/product?productSize=0 I don't know if they've offered a Heaven Hill product before but I'm curious if anyone has heard about this and if it's worth the $49.99 (500 ml).
Has anybody bought or even tried this one yet? I like the idea of ordering it directly from the company but $100 for MGP bourbon seems ridiculously high. Sure it's probably gimmicky but the original had quite a bit of history. I saw where barrels #1 and #2 have already sold out.
I had the opportunity over the weekend to try JDSS at a bar. It was a bit pricey, but the pours were generous and we took advantage of a late-night happy hour that got us two-for-one pricing. Knowing that I was unlikely to ever buy a bottle, I took advantage of the opportunity to give […]
I'm looking for recommendations on a great 40th birthday Bourbon for one of my best friends. Her birthday is 11/27/77, and I'd love to get a bottle with that date on it. I'm also open to other recommendations! Thanks in advance for your help!
