    Eagle Rare 12yr

Agreed. Aesthetically, it's one of my favorite distilleries. I can go back and back again just for that. The scene I want no part of.

    What’s on the menu????

We made another batch of pizzas tonight in our pizza oven. Really great flavor. They cook up really fast. I followed it up with some 2021 Sweeten’s Cove which I found for $50. Not a bad whiskey, although I think I prefer the Kennessee.
  6. I enjoyed the 10 year. I bet the 13, 14, 17 year are fantastic. Finding them at a reasonable price point is the challenge
  7. I really enjoy the Barrell offerings. Really good stuff and if you can find them on sale, even better. Let us know how you like it
  8. If you look closely, there are little pellets of something captured inside the strainer. I'm sure it's not "removing" anything; instead it is adding something to the liquid in your glass, in order to fool you into thinking your whiskey tastes better. No thanks -- I'm not interested in adding any type of flavoring component to my whiskey that I paid good money for to taste it as it comes out of the bottle. 100% gimmick.

Gag. I visited the BT facility for the first time in 2012, and returned 3 more times by 2017. Today, I have zero interest in going there anymore. The scene there of people lining up for bottles every single day (instead of just enjoying the beautiful grounds and touring the actual distillery) really turns me off.
  10. GIMMICK! I can't imagine what would be accomplished (other than forcing a bit of air into the dram - depending on how forcefully one might stir) and I certainly can't believe anything would be removed simply by stirring with any tool. Also, today's Bourbon, and I'm pretty sure any other whiskey distilled and bottled by any reputable firm wouldn't have an appreciable amount of any congeners remaining in the whiskey by the time it's sent to a retail shelf. This sounds like a product desperately seeking a solution to problem that doesn't exist. Just my opinion, of course.
  11. Old Fo SiB BP with a small cube of ice.
  12. I keep a home vatting of GW4G myself in a refilled 750ml bottle too (inspired by you for sure). Mine happens to be a 50/50 blend just because I'm lazy, but I'll have to try your 3:2 blend next time.
  13. I opened this the day we brought my son home from the hospital when he was 3 days old. That was almost 5 and a half years ago. The last almost ounce has been patiently waiting in there for a very long time. I figured today is a great day to put it down. I love these little bottles and labels, so I'll hang on to it. Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there.

    So, whatcha smokin?

Avo Uvezian spent his last years in the Sand Lake area of Orlando. He was often spotted on the patio of Jeff Brohnowitz's Corona Cigar Shop. Dressed in white linen (usually) humble and soft spoken he was always the draw on the patio. Even though he had sold his brand by the mid twenty teens he usually handed out some of his signature cigars. Gone but not forgotten here's to you Avo!

Elmer T Lee - worth it?

Well said. If you have the means, and want what you see, then drop the cash for it.

    Hot browns for Father’s Day!
  20. GW4G after grandbaby #3's 9th birthday party. Prime dry-aged sirloing strips going on the Napoleon grill in about 20 minutes. Think I'll have another! BTW, recipe for Grandpa Weller's 4 Grain blend is 3WSR:2OGD114 (3 parts Weller Special Reserve to 2 parts Old Grand Dad 114). Sometimes it's a nice thing to explain blends that have been passed down to us "oldies" many moons ago.

Elmer T Lee - worth it?

you know what you never see? A U-Haul filled with cash, attached to a hearse. You can't take it with you, might as well spend it on something. The older I get, the more I embrace that mindset.
  22. exceptional. Looks fantastic
  23. Yes I think GH is within that same time frame of that. I think Rarebird101 mentions GH through GJ as the laser codes. See this article: Wild Turkey 101 (2018) But in a later article he mentions at the end that in a blind SBS he actually preferred a March 2019 batch over the 2018 honey batch. article: Wild Turkey 101 Comparison: 2013 v. 2019 So who knows. Maybe your Jan 2019 has some of the same honey goodness. I know I'm a huge fan of my 2018 bottles. Not sure I have any from 2019 left to compare. More research required haha
  24. Rain/Sun/RainSun. We seem to be caught in a loop. OGD bonded from 1980 in the glass for all of the dads out there.
  25. Ok, thanks for clearing that up. Yeah, the H would indicate 2019, not 2018. Somehow, though, I thought I had heard that the batches with the ten year had overlapped into the new year. But, it was probably just wishful thinking lol. I do have a LL/GH bottle, though. Would that have been one of the honey batches?
  26. Welcome to SB.com. My gut reaction (without ever seeing or trying) is save your money.
