Yes I think GH is within that same time frame of that. I think Rarebird101 mentions GH through GJ as the laser codes. See this article: Wild Turkey 101 (2018) But in a later article he mentions at the end that in a blind SBS he actually preferred a March 2019 batch over the 2018 honey batch. article: Wild Turkey 101 Comparison: 2013 v. 2019 So who knows. Maybe your Jan 2019 has some of the same honey goodness. I know I'm a huge fan of my 2018 bottles. Not sure I have any from 2019 left to compare. More research required haha

Ok, thanks for clearing that up. Yeah, the H would indicate 2019, not 2018. Somehow, though, I thought I had heard that the batches with the ten year had overlapped into the new year. But, it was probably just wishful thinking lol. I do have a LL/GH bottle, though. Would that have been one of the honey batches?

After a heavy dose of 4RSB Old Fashioneds at Father’s Day dinner last night with Littlesmokinjoe and Mrssmokinjoe, an Old Forester 1920 on a clear cube while relaxing on the Father’s Day, and listening to Braves on the radio this afternoon. Not sure I could do much today even if I wanted to. There comes a time when, while it’s all great at the time, too many cocktails and way too much great Italian food will take its toll! These were just the prelims at the bar!

There is a 9 year barrel select? I have the 9 year batched product. I've never seen any barrel select pick older than 7 years, but if I did I would certainly pick one up. Among the 6 and 7 year picks, I haven't had enough to declare a trend, but in my small sample size experience, I usually have to decide between an upper floor (warehouse) 6 yr and a lower floor 7 year. The upper floor 6 year have been better. The 8 year bottles I have are batch 2a I think. I remember looking for batch 2a when I went shopping. I heard there will be a 10 year batch coming out soon to replace the current 9 year batch.

So i collect a batch 1a of all the non finished general releases and if I can the distillery only non finished products. But for drinking I have to say the 8 year batch 2a and now these new 9 year barrel select are far ahead of the pack. The distillery only barrel select is my favorite sagamore product so far, but there have been a few versions that have gone to stores that are incredible. If you see any 9 year barrel select you should buy it without hesitation.

That does sound interesting and worth purchasing. I may have to pick one up after all. Or alternatively I may work through some Sag store pick bottles that I have and by the time those are empty the in-house CS might even by an 8 year whiskey (or 9 considering how long it takes me to empty bottles, lol). The new cask strength is much closer in profile to the mgp sourced cask strength, but is a bit sharper and hotter. I found the early bibs to have a slight bitterness and a molasses and/or chocolate note to them. So the new cask strength is not particularly a similar profile. The new in house cask strength does have a slight sweet note to it, like sweet green grapes hiding mid palate, I would recommend purchasing one.

Sorry to hear that about your hand. But I like your outlook to pass the guitars on to someone else to enjoy. Good luck on your move as well if it happens!

Nice father's day present! I've seen the new in-house Cask Strength in stores but haven't purchased it yet because I still have a pretty good back stock of various Sag bottles. Whenever you get the chance to open yours let us know how it compares to their in-house BiB bottle. I have the 5 and 6 year versions of that. Or how the new CS compares to the older Indiana CS.

Well not to be a debbie downer, but your LL/HA is not from 2018. HA is from January 2019 and not the batches that reportedly had the 10 year whiskey in the blend. The laser code for those 2018 "honey batches" (my term, not theirs) with the 10 year barrels were LL/GJ, GI, and maybe some others immediately before or after. This doesn't mean that your new 2025 batch isn't still excellent but the comparison to the older honey batch is not quite the same.

The girls took me to sagamore today for father's day. I had a few pours from the bar. The standout by far was the distillery only barrel select. Although their new cask strength, which is now made entirely in house and has a 7 year age statement is quite good as well. The girls bought me a bottle of each from the gift shop to bring home.

Just got served an ad on Amazon for something called the Stir-ring - it’s this little "device" that you stir into your whiskey, and supposedly it makes it smoother by pulling out harsh fermentation compounds. They say this is done with no filters or additives… I’m skeptical but curious. Has anyone here actually tried it? Does it actually make a difference in taste or is it just a gimmick? Would love to hear opinions before I grab one. Thank you!

First let me apologize for editing your post, PaulO. ...For brevity and clarity only. Your statement is SPOT ON!!!! I have felt the same for a few years now. I have enough good-to-fine-to-amazing Straight Bourbons (and Straight Ryes - and a few Scotch & Irish whiskies I favor) to satisfy myself, likely for the rest of my life (unless the actuarial tables are way off). Coming to that realization and understanding that I have no need of any more (no matter how highly touted, or how rare... and for sure how expensive!) has provided me with more than a little calm satisfaction. Life is Good... and Good Enough! (Sorry for the thread drift.)
