What Bourbon Are You Drinking Spring 2025?

Sipping on Bardstown Origins6 yr BiB wheater. Nice. Cheers
  3. I remember the first time that somebody gave me a bottle of Evan Williams 12, I was shocked that it was a screw top, especially after the difficulty of getting through all the wax. Doesn’t bother me a bit, though!
  4. Opened this one tonight and I’m a fan, especially for the price for a 1 liter. Not a sherry bomb by any means, but I get peaches, honey, a little spice I can’t identify (maybe nutmeg) with a hint of chocolate.
  5. Today
  6. I'm having some OF Birthday bourbon, this one is the 2018 vintage at 101 proof. I like it.
  7. Hmm, well I don't know why then. Sounds like you are doing everything right. In my experience a store that carries one batch will usually also have each batch as they are released. The big exception is when one particular batch gets super high praise by some influential reviewer (like the A923 batch did) then good luck finding it because the flippers and hoarders snatch them all up. But that's not the normal case. Good luck in your search!
  8. Well, again, let's put it this way. I can taste the difference between my A124 (10yr, 9mo at 119 Proof), vs. my 1792 Full proof at 125. One can definitely taste the barrel in the ECBP. But the 1792 is much smoother in general taste (far less "barrelly") but you feel the proof heat. Not sure if that's because 1792 isn't aged as long. I'm just wondering if a B or C batch of ECBP will taste more smooth/hot like the 1792, or will it be all about the barrel, still? Not that that's bad, I just don't know what to expect.
  9. Finally a two day weekend, and I'm not on the hook for hosting. That will be at my brother's. So after a daddy daughter day I had myself a lsb13 and several a overholts. I took my daughter to brunch at a local spot, then to a topiary garden, followed by shoe shopping. I swear I'm buying a larger pair of several shoes every few weeks. Hence the extra pours.

    What’s on the menu????

Whose toupee is that in the background on the edge of the table????
  11. In my experience, it's more random than you seem to suggest. ...Or, maybe I just never paid that much attention to the proofs. ...And, the age had always been twelve years, I thought. In any case, I think trying to predict whether you'll like a particular edition of ECBP has to be more of 'taste-first-and-decide' than trying to predict from past years "order" of them. Even if they have been older or higher proof in a given year's later editions than the 'earlier' one. This is based upon only my admittedly poor old memory, so there's that.
  12. I decided to move on to some Lot B after dinner.

    What’s on the menu????

We made some fresh pesto pasta with spinach salads tonight. Basil is growing like crazy in the weather we have had.
  16. Rainy and cool in the Bluegrass today, pour some Mck10 to kick off the evening.

    Empty Bottle Support Group 2025

Not today's victims but victims nonetheless of the last several days. All were low volume kills.
  18. Loving the 15y - `7y Hardins Creeks. Beam aged goodness.
  19. So, even though the B or C batches appear to be aged longer and are at marginally higher proofs, all of that doesn't make much difference when it comes to ECBP's?

Coincidentally, about 4 minutes before I read your post, I googled "The Rocket City". Was in the dark, just as you were. Then I came across your post and the related replies. Actually quite funny!
  21. I've tried quite a few of them. All of the local stores in my area.. I'd have to venture out a bit farther to my county/region. A bit difficult as I don't own a car, right now.
  22. Yes. I know. The Indy Speedway ain't like a road course.
  23. Drank quite a bit of this delicious stuff the past couple weeks while on vacation. The only whiskey options available were basically Jameson and Jack. Nothing against either of those but the beer was a much better value for the money everywhere we went.
  24. I would be happy with the VOB 100PF. Great bourbon at 14$ ish. I wish it were widely distributed. But not to worry, I brought several back from KY. After having the 100pf, I don't mess with the lower proof versions. Nowhere near the flavor as the 100pf.
  25. I have a couple different store picks from 3+ yrs ago or so. One was very good coming in at 123pf, glad I grabbed a spare for the bunker where it now rests (wish i would have grabbed a couple more from this store). The other sp 121.4pf was good and i grabbed a spare of it as well. I don't take notes so can't give you any details, just that I enjoyed both of them enough to grab a backup. Suggest you open it and give it a try, if you like it, go get another or 2. Let us know what you think of it. I look forward to your take on it.
