Not trying to stir the pot here, just commenting. I thought Four Rose stopped supplying distillate to Bulleit years ago. IIRC, they started getting their distillate elsewhere. Brown Forman perhaps?

It was a really hot week this week, so i ended up not drinking any whiskey at all until today. Now I'm having a pour of this ps traverse city barrel proof rye. It's really hitting the spot. It's loaded with dried ginger candy and cardamom. The fascinating thing about this bottle though is the mouth feel. It is effervescent, almost carbonated in texture, but also oily and mouth coating at the same time.

Same...that's why I jumped on it. I'm hoping that it's good.

I haven't seen one of these Bulleit SiBs around since before the pandemic. I only had one bottle but it was excellent. And definitely 4R.

It’ll be a fun evening at my American Legion Post tonight. Steak fry and Red Shirt Friday.

Probably not the correct location for this post . . . BUT, Here it is, nonetheless. My Bardstown Bourbon Buddy, Phil T. (a poster on this forum) on his journey North was kind enough to go out of his way to stop near me for lunch at a local favorite ethnic restaurant (Hungarian Rhapsody). He and his wife, Amy met up with me and my wife, Gayle for a relaxing interlude, friendly conversation (most of it not about whiskey!), and a 'Hungarian Lunch' before they were off to continue their journey. They'll see his son in Traverse City, then eventually go spend some sightseeing time in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. It was particularly nice to see Phil, since I wasn't able to attend the Spring Gathering in Bardstown last April. Phil left with a small-but-special bottle to pour later, 4-R SmBLE, 2016. I trust it will be well-enjoyed. Wonderful to see Phil as well as meet his sweet wifey.

I'm still trying not to buy, except to restock staples, or special bottles. This one falls in the "special bottles" category. I can't wait to try it! It's essentially single barrel Four Roses OESO at barrel proof and is 10.75 years old....

With a lot of these NDPs you have to get them in the first several releases.

I've been on a higher proof kick lately and this was just a very easy drinker. I was probably expecting more. It has good flavor, but I thought it lacked character/complexity. I'll give it another try or two before pulling the curtain on it.

I remember liking that one. Just an easy drinker. I'll try it again.

No you tried the 104 proof one. I think that 104 proof is definitely better.

Clearing out the empties! The Benchmark was a pleasant surprise for the price and the Bulliet exceeded expectations. The rest are standards.

Smoke Wagon Small Batch tonight. Not impressed. It doesn't suck, but I won't buy another bottle.

Some RR13 tonight. Just taking it easy. We are scheduled for closing on 7/3 on the new place.

Oh man. Is that the one I got to try? Major loss.

Well, I've been traveling a lot. Busy busy. And I had not packed the wee 2 oz bottles. So less drinky drinky when busy busy. I did get to try the Bowman CS. I like it, a lot. It's much like SFTB, but with a sort of Willetty finish. I do not normally care for the Willett tang...but here it works.
