  2. Here’s a label that I have of Barton Gin, which shows the same Bardstown, KY and Los Angeles info on the front label as the JayVee. So, could imply that the JayVee is a Barton whiskey, then. Problem, is that I got this label during a tour of the Heaven Hill Label Room, which is an archive more or less, of all of the labels that they have released. I believe that Heaven Hill purchased some Barton brands over the years and kept the name. Possibly, they also were distilling other things for Barton, and Barton was bottling the barrels. Or…….So, I’m not sure I’m any closer to determining where the JayVee whiskey came from. side note, I was in a LS today that had Barton Blended Whiskey right beside Old Fitz 80 proof. Same cities designation on the Barton label as here. But the UOCs were different on both bottles. WTFK… But, I wanna know!!! @boone, if you’re listening gorgeous, please help us!

  4. My first 'heavily peated' empty. This was as good as advertised. And I have to admit that I was surprised that I enjoyed it as much as I did. This bottle was responsible for me not being afraid to purchase additional heavily peated expressions. Great bottle.
  5. Two rye empties. Got backups for both...
  6. Nice. I haven't seen the new Chattanooga CS rye in my neck of the woods yet, but I plan on picking one up when I do.

Well, guess I better get busy drinking down my 90 proof bottles of Baby Saz!

    Empty Bottle Support Group 2025

This was a very underrated bottle when it was on the shelves. Does anyone know if the new Nelson Brothers are anywhere near as good as these were?

What Beer Are You Drinking In 2025

If you are in Anchorage, Anchorage Brewing Company makes some of the best barrel aged imperial stouts and barleywines. When the release them, they are usually on Saturdays. If you like these styles of beer, you may wish to check it out.

    Liquor Store "Huh?" Moments

Illinois isn’t quite the mecca for BT products that Texas and maybe a few other states are. That being said, at least here in Northern Illinois, most items can be found without too many problems. The main issue here is being able to find them at “non-tater”stores. Heck, even my local Binny’s has prices that sometimes makes me scratch my head. Their “sale” prices are what a couple of decent stores regular prices are. Now on to the topic at hand, kinda. Think reverse mode liquor store huh moments. I had to run an errand the other day. My main go to store was nearby. I knew the manager was off, but I stopped anyway. The assistant manager also kinda knows me. I asked her if they had anything good in the back. She checked. Blanton's, Taylor SmB, Weller SR, ER 10 and a couple others. I thanked her and told her I was good, and that I’d probably catch her later. I got “the look”. I let her know I didn’t buy bourbon just to buy it, hoard it or sell it, and that I believed in sharing the wealth. She gave me a smile. I then thanked her. Then she smiled again and thanked me. Yeah, it was a good day.

Yes, Weller is fairly easy to find in my part of Texas too. I feel fortunate

It's been a while but I've enjoyed both the White and their IPAs.

Depends what state you live in. Texas has been historically good for certain BT products.

    Liquor Store "Huh?" Moments

I keep hearing about how Buffalo Trace is hard to find. It’s a shelfer in Texas. I find it to be a good mixer at +/- $25 a bottle
  18. Is the Penelope 15 year much different from the 17 year American Light Whiskey? I really enjoyed the 17 year. Haven’t sampled the 15 year. I found the Jacob’s Pardon to be good but I preferred the Penelope.

What Beer Are You Drinking In 2025

I’m in Alaska this week and was able to try my first Alaskan Beer. It’s their white offering. Not too shabby. Anyone else tried Alaskan Beer?
  20. I really enjoy Old Forrester. I picked up the Old Forester Single Barrel 100 proof last week. I think it’s better than the 1924. For all I know, maybe it’s the same. I have been told 1924 and King Ranch are the same, but that seems a stretch to me as I taste and smell different profiles there. Now the Single Barrel Barrel Strength is a whole other level to me…

I am not a fan of BT. I find it bland and very monotonous dram. A ok to good store pick ( I have not had a great btl of BT EVA!), another story. Picked one up the other day that I quite enjoy. Convenient store pick. Who knew? Lol. It is almost gone. Sometimes!

    Baby saz 100 proof

Here’s the bottle. Supposed msrp is $30.
  23. new to the stash! Dark Arts Double Barrel 10 yr Cask Strength. Not sure when I will open it, but happy to have a bottle. Probably should have bought 2!
  24. I prolly stand alone on this but, I feel the Bonded is the poor mans version of the SBBS. And I am a poor man, cheap bastard, one who doesn't mind spending less..... I am not saying it is as good as SBBS but I do find similarities. Kinda lime 100pf OF and 1920. YMMV
