Wow I'm coming drinking at your place

Glad to see FRyeday arrive. Beast of a week, now behind me. Found this Bowman BP Rye in my tertiary bunker a couple weeks ago, and it will kick off the weekend for me now.

I'd value some recommendations on Double Oaked Rye's. I enjoy the Sagamore and Peerless. Which others would the group recommend?

I'm the only bourbon, Whiskey drinker in the house. So if I don't like a bottle, it gets used as a mixer, or for guests. These things happen from time to time

Mrs. Clueby did! I thought it had a "toasted barrel" note to it..which I always seem to pick up as a sour kind of wet cardboard. I have had a few Blue Note bottles that I did really enjoy

I enjoy the Blue Note. Picked it up a few months back. Seems you also enjoyed it

I'd pull the trigger at $158. It would only be an occasional drinker anyway. I'll probably end up with one down the road. I'm nothing, if not patient....

Looks delicious. I never found that one when visiting KY, but the other flatboat products I’ve tried were all good bang for the buck. I would guess the 125p will be good.

I paid $158 for mine. Still expensive and still overpriced, but the drop was enough to trigger me to buy. Since I had tasted it and wanted a bottle it was worth it to me. They were $200 when they first came out around here.

So far the only one that I've seen around here, (Baltimore Metro area), is $199.00. That said, I haven't really looked but will keep an eye out for it....

Well all is well that ends well. At dinner tonight I spoke to our sommelier and he was able to get me a sample of the Woodford Reserve Baccarat. It was okay. Not great, not terrible. Glad I was able to check that one off my list. I will not add it to my collection at $2000. I would rather put those funds towards adding Eagle Rare 17, or William Larue Weller or George T Stagg. I can likely add two of those three for the same $2000. Maybe all three if I were to get lucky.

Thank you for sharing. I saw it at a total wine in Los Angeles a couple weeks back. Ironically it is now cheaper online

I haven't opened my bottle yet, but I tried it a bar a couple months back and I really enjoyed. I had passed on it when it first came out, but the price has gone down since then so I grabbed one.

How is the 16 year? I have seen this one lately and pondered getting it

On my trip to Alaska, I found a bar that had the Woodford Reserve Baccarat edition. All excited to try it as I am not likely to plunk down $2000 on a bottle, at least not that bottle As quick as my excitement grew, my disappointment grew faster as they could not sell it as it was not entered into their system. Sigh… For whatever it’s worth, most who have tried it have told me it’s not the best bourbon I will ever sample so maybe I just saved myself some money?

Just an illustration for how connected the world is. My uncles left Chicago for Northern California and landed in Pinole. I bet he heard of this bourbon. Sadly, I won’t get to ask him as he left us far too soon. At the same time, I had many lunches at the Berghoff downtown. Always had great Wiener schnitzel
