Empty Bottle Support Group 2025
flahute replied to JakeySnakes's topic in General Bourbon Discussion
I always got butterscotch from those as well. -
It's a blend of 6-8 though recent batches are likely closer to 6.
-
Yes, but, as I said the 14, 15, and 16yr Calumets, which are Barton, were indeed stellar. They know what they are doing.
-
Happens to the best of us!
-
If you close your eyes and think about Wild Turkey shouldn’t the bottle have an 8 on it? I think the age statement for $44 will be a good thing for all of us.
-
I found it to be a better bourbon than the standard 101, ……but not that much better. I did a blind tasting with some friends where we blinded the standard 101, the 8 year 101, the Spirit of Kentucky SiB 101, and The Jimmy Russell 70th Anniversary 101. The Jimmy Russell blew the other 3 out of the water in the blind rankings. The Kentucky Spirit got 2nd, and the 8 year barely edged the standard offering for 3rd place.
-
I was out and about today, so it nearly everywhere. I think it's a tough sell knowing the regular 101 is a 6 year at +/- $25.00
-
Nope, just old and reading on a mobile phone.
-
I see that now, sorry about that fellas. I was reading on my phone

Darn it. The only thing I’ve ever collected a sealed bottle of every release of is 1792. It’s been a nice break from chasing those down the past few years. Now I have work to do again…
-
My countertop bottle is currently a modern SAOS 5 year rye. It's been really inconsistent to my palate. Some sips are great, some not so much, even from the same pour. Overall it isn't what it used to be, but it was nice to take a chance on.
-
If aged carefully enough it could be stellar... BUT, 15-years is a very long time in wood. For now, I'll keep good thoughts regarding its profile. ...And, its suggested retail price. Any feel for when it might be available? ...And/or where?

Not the subject of this thread. Look closer.

The thunderstorm appears to have passed, so fixin’ to start up this My Father Le Bijou 1922, and a High Wire Jimmy Red on a clear cube. Still trying to find something I like in the bourbon. I know the My Father will be stellar.

So Bro, I see purchasing a bottle of Velvet Falernum in my future…
