What Beer Are You Drinking In 2025
Kepler replied to smokinjoe's topic in General Non-Whiskey Alcohol
I once toured their brewery in Chippewa Falls back in the early 2000s when I was working in St. Paul which is about an hour and half drive away. It was great. I became a Leinie fan after that for a few years but I've drifted away from them over time. They seemed to have changed a lot and gone a bit "corporate" compared to how they were when I was there (no surprise, ...as with everything else these days). I'm not even sure that it's still even made in Chippewa Falls anymore but I hope so? Their standard original was my favorite back then. - Today

All this EH Taylor talk has reminded me that I didn't have a bottle of the regular Small Batch open. And to my point in another thread regarding price, I paid $33.99 for this bottle in 2018. This one tastes like what it is: an elevated tasting experience over the regular BT bourbon and bottled at 100 proof. The flavor still shows that familiar tie to the great Old Charters of yesteryear. An excellent example of a true classic bourbon. Cheers!

Kepler started following BT to add EH Taylor product to BTAC line and Old Forester King Ranch

I want to say that the first release of King Ranch was selling for $65 to 75. But when the second wave of it hit the market a few months later the price shot up to $85 to 90. I never bought a bottle because of the price.

let us know how this one is. I have the single barrel and enjoyed it. This looks great. -
Since we know it will be 100 proof, the million dollar question is: What's the age going to be? They already have Eagle Rare with the same mashbill boasting 101 proof at 17 years. So I'm gonna guess 10-12 years for the CEHT in order to differentiate it.

Yeah, I get it. My favorite is 1910, although the single barrel is very good too. I am excited to try the 1924. It should arrive this week. -
Much thanks to @Kepler and @Galvin0791 for the heads up about this. https://www.foodandwine.com/eh-taylor-bottled-in-bond-buffalo-trace-antique-collection-2025-11727871

These red labels still haven't made it to my state yet. No idea what the hold up is. Every store owner I've asked give me the same response. "Four Roses single barrel changed to a brown label, not red." Had to venture to Louisiana to find it, and only found two of the three there so not sure if I'll ever find the one I'm missing... -
I've long been an OF fan so when I went to Houston for work in early 2024 I made it my mission to find it. I had assumed it was prevalent, but it took me one Total Wine and 4 different Spec's before I finally found it. Bought two, bunkered one, still have about half of the other in the bottle. I enjoy it, but it's not worth the $85 I paid for it. If it were same price as 1920 I'd be much happier.

I bought a bottle of Rebel Cask Strength over the weekend. Got it as a heavily discounted price. I was pleasantly surprised by it, but opted for it based on the review by Peter over at Whiskey is a Journey. I like his reviews. I find them to align closely to my views, tastes, etc. -

I love the John J. Bowman so much that we have a decanter that I bought at the distillery dedicated to it and it's been a staple on our bar for years. It's a very nice, well-balanced whiskey. A few years ago they had a bottle shortage at the distillery and it was briefly unavailable. We were down to the last couple of pours when it became available again. Since then, I always make sure to have a spare. At $62.00 I over paid a little, (MSRP is $56.99), but I don't care. I was also fortunate enough to snag a barrel pick last year, which is exceedingly rare for this whiskey. Truth be told, while the pick is spectacular, it isn't a whole lot better than the bottles that I've bought elsewhere... -
Someone gifted me a bottle of Linie Aquavit. It seems to be made from potatoes. Anyone tried this before?
-
Thank you. One of these days, I am going to give it a shot. I appreciate the response

I had to take a break in April due to tax bill, other expenses. Now that May is here, I've been on a bit of a spending spree. I ordered the 10 year yesterday. Got a fairly okay deal on it. I bought the 12 year last year for MSRP. It is my best bourbon. I think the 14 us even better. Will be that next month. -

Was grocery shopping and the store got a few more of these. Curiosity got the best of me and I decided to grab this one so I had all 3 of the recipes 4R released back in the fall. -

I did a blind of these and I think I prefer the 8 year. The 70th is more textbook, but the 8 has a cinnamon finish and seems more playful. Cheers! -

This evening it's a generous pour of OF 1920. I'm a huge fan of the OF flavor profile. I think the only bottle I'm not a fan of is the 1897. I'm not sure why. - Yesterday

Yesterday at Total Wine while shopping for my mint julep supplies and my first Asahi Dry of the year I noticed some Belgian singles for sale. I haven’t had Duvel in years so I snagged one. Man this is great. -

I love Leini. I really enjoyed the grapefruit shandy when they made it. Fear not, it’s the first week of May. The Cubs will find their form. Completely Useless By September (cubs) -
What Bourbon Did You Pass On 2025?
Skinsfan1311 replied to fishnbowljoe's topic in General Bourbon Discussion
I was only re-stocking staples. I passed on a lot...but these are the one's that I can remember the prices Bulleit BiB for $69.00 Stagg $299.00 WSR $149.00 KC12 $69.99 Blanton's $94.00 Thomas Handy Rye $599.00 1792 BiB $69.99 Booker's $99.99 MM101 $69.99 (not a typo), but the CS sitting next to it on the shelf is $49.99 Some of those aren't too obscene, but I was only interested in picking up Bulleit BiB & KC12 and they are easy enough to find so there's no reason to overpay. The one LS had 12 bottles of Stagg, and about the same of various Weller's.
