    Bulleit Bourbon pronounciation?

Another for bullet, although……. I was at a store one time “browsing the booze”. Another guy was looking too. He saw me and we exchanged pleasantries. He picked up a bottle of Bulleit. He looked at me and asked if I knew anything about this “Boo-let” bourbon. I managed to keep a straight face and told him it was a pretty decent bourbon. He thanked me and headed to the checkout counter with bottle in hand. I did chuckle when he went around the corner.

    History of the Tater

I quite enjoyed the article. I consider myself a longtime Bourbon fan, enthusiast, aficionado, whatever, but definitely not a tater. Probably a majority of the tater activities listed in the article - I would definitely not do. I think waiting in long lines, and or forking over big bucks for product (let's be honest) that is so-so average - it's ridiculous. When this nonsense started, I liked to compare it to the fable of The Emperor's New Clothes. The good news is we have plenty of great American Whiskey available nowadays, and prices can be very reasonable. Stick to the mid shelf brands from the legacy distillers. Walmart's store brand knock off of frozen Tater Tots are also labeled "Taters".

What Bourbon Are You Drinking Summer 2025?

Continuing with my draining of some 'old' sample bottles of whiskey (almost all of 'em Bourbon)... I emptied a 3-ounce bottle filled with a sample of maybe my favorite Booker's iteration: Toogie's Invitation from 2016, 129-proof. (A "Roundtable Pick" I heard.) I'd slot this one about-even-or-slightly-ahead of either Booker's 25th Anniversary or Booker's 30th Anniversary. Depending on the day I taste any of these (and, they are all very similar - as are nearly all Booker's iterations to my taste buddies), each may exceed the other two by a narrow margin, or may be very nearly indistinguishable from each other. I think 'Toogie's' may be slightly milder in the alcohol burn most times, in spite of it's relatively higher proof. In any case my "anniversary" bottles are both gone, so all I can do today is enjoy what is available, and it is extremely enjoyable! All Brown sugar, caramel, with a hint of roasted peanuts: Liquid Cracker Jack. A high-proof dessert pour.

    Bulleit Bourbon pronounciation?

Welcome to SB! While I am sure that the pronunciation is like the ammo…bullet, I’ll be damned if I can always remember how the whiskey is actually spelled…spelt…
  13. Hello my fellow bourbon drinker…what is the official pronunciation for Bulleit? We believe it is pronounced the same as bullet, the ammunition. Thank you for your time!

    So, whatcha smokin?

Kinda feel bad I haven't participated in this thread more. Tend to share my smoking with buddies on Discord. I'll try to stop in more... I've been on a Connecticut kick for the past couple years. Favorite cigar is the JdN Numero Uno. And Cubans, generally. R&J, Partagas, Por Laranaga, etc. Ready to branch out again after being in a rut. Not big on pepper bombs, but I've got lots of good boutique smokes to work thru...

This Cheap Bastard is very impressed, and somewhat envious. The Fighting Cock is pretty damn good, even at $20.00...

What Bourbon Did You Purchase Summer 2025?

Nice! If you like Dickel rye, you'll should really enjoy it. I came across a similar deal on Belle Meade Reserve last year. $37.99 and I cleared the last 3 bottles off the shelf.
  20. More bottom feeding. I just ordered three bottles of Fighting Cock 103 proof for $13 each, marked down from $20, at K&L. They claim that Heaven Hill tells them it's still around 6 yo even though it's NAS. But, whatever, that's EW Black price territory.
  21. The first lot sold out quickly but they (K&L) just posted that they now have more than 60 bottles in stock. The distributor must be dumping their inventory due to slow sales at msrp.

    Rd one Brazilian wood bourbon

I’ve not had this particular Amburana finished bourbon, but I have had one other. I found the whiskey bordering on gross. Perhaps, it was overdone, but the fossil was so overwhelmingly artificially sweetener tainted, that I went back to it two other times…then buried it deep, deep, deep, in my no-go zone cabinet.
  23. Good hot day for some local sour beer. I know it’s not for everyone, and I used to hate it too, but here I am.

Do you have a pic of the bottle or any more information?
  25. Yes, the stucco wall where it meets the sidewalk is 3 feet tall. (That’s the maximum height allowed). As the wall runs back toward the house it’s over 6 feet tall. I wanted to step down a horizon metal slatted fence to add just a little privacy and safety for us and the neighbor. The city said it’s not a walkable space so we don’t need a fence, but also can’t have a fence! We have a three foot planter on our side of that wall so we are going to plant some hedges that will have to do. We have a new fire resistant roof and our vents are protected. We took out Apple, fig, lemon, pomegranate trees, but kept the avocado tree even though it’s close to the house. It’s a producer and I just couldn’t. We ended up planting 35 different varieties of plants (148 total, even put in some Kentucky Bluegrass fescue hybrid) with several repeating a pattern halfway around the house. But much more room to defend if we need it. I’ve seen sprinkler systems but probably won’t get one. The recent fires the wind is usually favorable to us. It blows across us. The danger for us would be wind coming off the ocean but those are typically wet winter storms. So while there is risk I think it’s acceptable. We have hose bibs on all corners of the property and we can pump water out of the pool. GTS… I might join ya tonight.
