  2. There's no need to buy any fancy contraption. Follow the instructions in this video. I have an inexpensive Igloo cube cooler that fits nicely in my garage freezer.

    Help Planning Husbands Dream Trip

I agree! I think Castle and Key is in one of the most scenic hollows of the Bourbon Trail. I saw it in the late winter/ early spring when nothing was green but could see the beauty that it holds. Worth a quick drive thru and or short visit.
  4. Nice CLEAR ice cube. Care to share your "recipe" on the process? Please and Thank you.

    Buffalo Trace

Yes, I see have seen it this way for no less than the last year.
  6. Today
  7. I made a batch of clear cubes today, so I figured I better have a pour on one. I forget what batch this bottle is. I went to Heaven Hill a year ago and snagged one of the blank stickers. I was going to copy the proof of this bottle to the ticker then add something clever. We'll, none of that ever happened! Oh well...
  8. Emptied this one. This has to be my favorite $50 scotch. Great value. Already have a backup.

    Help Planning Husbands Dream Trip

For anyone who has never been to bourbon country before, in my opinion a Maker's Mark tour is priority number one, a definite must see. I would skip the Buffalo Trace bottle chasing event for Maker's Mark. You can purchase bottles back home.

    Buffalo Trace

Nothing new. It's been this way in Texas for about 2 years.

It’s good to see Buffalo Trace, Weller Special Reserve being so readily available and at MSRP
  16. Wave after wave of showers here today. I’m enjoying a WTKS on the deck during a momentary sunny period. Cheers all!

    Empty Bottle Support Group 2025

I finished off this 16 year Rebecca Creek bottle. Very nice well-aged MGP bourbon. This 93.4 proof barrel was quite good, but I like my bottle from a 104 proof barrel significantly better. That bottle is still about 3/4 full, so no tears about sending this empty bottle to the bin.

    Empty Bottle Support Group 2025

Great post. I remember taking tours at Barton in either 2012 or 2013 and a couple more times between then and 2017. I described the experience then as "rustic but authentic." Your post really paints the picture.

    What’s on the menu????

Father’s Day arrived a day earlier for me. My daughter sent me a couple Lou Malnati’s Italian Beef and Hot Gardianara pizzas. Can’t wait to try them.
  20. Hard to find a better value than the Benchmark. I think I paid $25 for it:

Elmer T Lee - worth it?

Nor are they displayed for the general public in a case, or behind the counter
  22. Scooped a pair yesterday and drinking same, yesterday and today. Chattanooga Whiskey Founder's. I can't believe how much I like this!!!
  23. Watching golf at a local bar and tried this. Quite tasty and my first time seeing a barrel proof toasted barrel!

What Bourbon Did You Pass On 2025?

I agree. Regular BT always tastes bland to me as well. However, I've had some stellar BT store picks, including two from local supermarkets.

What Bourbon Did You Pass On 2025?

Today I passed a bunch of BT 750ml and handles. The sale price was like $20, and $35 for the big one. I know some people might go in their pants if they saw this. I passed. The truth is, even at those prices, I prefer to drink other brands: WT101, Old Fo 100. JW Dant... Oh, I think regular BT is ok (just ok). It always seems to come across to me as sort of bland.
