What bourbon did you purchase this spring season of 2025?
NDN98 replied to MSB's topic in General Bourbon Discussion
In 2022, this stopped being distributed in Texas, but I guess they have enough stock to start distributing it nationwide again, because I just picked up a bottle on Saturday that was bottled in 2024. Glad to see it on a shelf again, but always wished these were a little higher in proof. - Today

Yeah, those have started creeping up in price too. What used to be a $55-60 bottle is now a $70-80 bottle in my area.

Both of our daughters preferred scotch when they wew teething - but not just any scotch, but The Macallan 12! Seemed to work, tho'. BTW, that was also SWMBO's favorite at teething time . . .

I'm not too upset about the small 'cash penalty', if the distilleries "bend us over" on this deal. It's the lack of lubrication that irritates..... -
Hmmm. I always thought they'd just swab a little on the teething baby's tender gums? Or, maybe I just assumed that....

sipping on some AAA while watching my wife prep for a party she is having tomorrow night. My plans are the basement or upstairs by 1730. Luckily, I am supplied on any floor of the house. -

I did a blind SBS. WT101 vs WT101 8yr Mrs Skinsfan poured them in the other room and brought 'em out one at a time. It would not have been blind had I seen them first as the 8 year is darker. I have to admit that the 8 year is the better of the two, but by a nose and I still don't think it's $20.00 better than the standard... -

The last one I bought was 80 proof and it's pretty damn good! -
I ran out of baby saz while cooking today. So I'm switching to a ritt store pick. They are not similar at all. But both won't mess with my palate to badly while making the meal.

I haven’t been able to actually talk with my friend. Speculation from a couple of folks is the driver possibly dropped them.
-
That takes some effort to destroy a pizza so thoroughly. What did your friend do to warrant such a delivery?
-
Yuck! That is unconscionable! I assume they will drive this business into the ground in short order. ...Then wonder why...

Yesterday I went to my mom's for her mother's day celebration. She wanted tacos and margaritas, so not really whiskey related. But today for my wife's mother's day celebration I'm roasting a duck, making potatoes terrene, and a kale salad. This meal is being cooked while I sip on more then a couple pours of baby saz.

The trend to move from 750ml bottles to 700ml bottles

This is a nonissue for me. It will just wash through the markets in a matter of a few months. It’s a little less than a 7% reduction in volume, which on a $25 dollar of whiskey, would equate to an ~$1.70 reduction in pricing if played straight up. If I currently go to 15 nearby package stores, I’ll see that much, or more, variance between pricing on the same item from each store. For me personally, the differential has to be much more pronounced to impact my decision making. And, since there is the 3 tier system in alcoholic beverages, who is to say that the producer would be the sole beneficiary of the “shrinkflation” potential. -

I wish I could find the old article where I read about the possible conversion to 700 ml bottles. Another thing that was discussed was that while there wouldn’t be a reduction in price, there could be at least some cost savings to consumers in the future. Less price adjustments for at least a little while. Six of one, half dozen of another. -
