Yes, on the Virgin 7 yr. My hope is that with bourbon supply improving as it has and to the point of allowing for some longer aging, we’ll see the 7 year come back. Fine bourbon at a great price.

Fosmith, check the liquor stores in Oregon next time you're up that way. Plenty of HH cats and dogs on the shelf for MSRP. JTS Brown is my personal fave, for both the profile and historical connection to Wild Turkey. If you find some age stated 7-year "Virgin Bourbon", buy it.

WOW, very cool. I bet it is fantastic! I have the 12 year cask strength - one of the first editions - and that is magnificent. The 21 Parliament is great too, but doesn't have the punch of the 12 year, as it is about 48% ABV. Would love to hear your thoughts when you open it up.

I do really enjoy the Heaven Hill style. I wish Dant and JTS Brown were sold here in Calif. So, I just took your recommendation and grabbed three more Fighting Cock. And, I had misremembered the price. It's $12 not $13.

Store picks of this are where it's at for me. I've had some amazing K&L picks that had little to none of the banana note that I usually get in the regular offering. I don't dislike the banana note, it's just that the store picks have been more complex and interesting.

We recently took a cruise with the drinks package included. My expectations were low for bourbons and ryes and the ship had an Irish pub on board. The pub featured among others Redbreast 12 and 15. I've long tried to enjoy Irish Whisky given my ancestry but my palate is firmly American. In an attempt to maximize the value of our package, I decided to torture myself with a pour of RB 15 as it was at the top end of what was covered by the package. Why torture? Well I've experienced RB12 on many occasions over the years, I even suffered through a whole bottle being too cheap to drain pour something that expensive (I should have). The bottle I had as well as pours from several others over the years resulted in the same, a STRONG aversion to the RB12 profile. The 15 shocked me!! It was actually good, I could not believe what I was tasting!! The cruise lasted 7 days and this was day 1. I had and thoroughly enjoyed RB15 each day of the cruise. On day 5 I asked for a pour of both RB15 AND 12, maybe I was wrong all those years and pours ago? NOPE the 12 was EXACTLY as I remembered, a fleeting glimpse of sweet which transitioned to a slightly longer spice (the much touted "pot still spice"???) then the vicious turn to the off putting, weird mid palate through finish that simply has me looking for the nearest place to spit it out. The 12 was shown in stark relief when AB'd against the 15 which opened with a sweetness and gradually transitioned to spice, not unlike a nice rye which it held through a long and satisfying finish. I might have actually mistaken it for a decent rye as I LOVE ryes and I think that played into my enjoyment of RB15, that and the fact that it never took on the harsh, boozy, acrid characteristics that plague that horrible 12yr. I was amazed and pleased by what those additional 3 yrs did, they turned something undrinkable into a very nice pour. This will never replace a good rye especially at the price they ask for that 15 yr, buts its great to know there is an Irish whisky I can honestly enjoy, I don't have to try to convince myself there might be some redeeming quality, it actually tastes very good!! I also know unequivocally the RB12 for me is strictly a drain pour, its bad, REALLY bad, young poorly made craft whisky bad and I will avoid it permanently from here on. Its now joined JB white label on the "consume under no circumstances" list. I know the 12 has fans and I'm sure it tastes good to the legions of reviewers that say they enjoy it, but for whatever reason, my palate and RB12 are no friend to one another. For those of you that enjoy the 12, hats off to ya, for those curious about the 15 or who don't care for Irish whisky, try RB15, it was a major eye opener for me and I would welcome another pour anytime. Slainte!!

This is one of my favorite btls. I have had many and loved all but one. Not sure what it was about that one. I drank it, cuz Ima lush. It didn't taste lime all the others, not that they all taste exactly the same but, was definitely an odd ball. Had an off putting flavor that I could never put my finger on. I am glad it is gone. And also glad I haven't found another like it. Thank you for choosing this btl for the month of July.

I was talking about the Dickel/Leopold Collaboration....but...as far as 1792 goes, my favorite is the BiB. I really like it...not a huge fan of the standard, or the full proof.... Full Disclosure: those are the only three iterations of 1792 that I've tried

Except for yesterday. Had Man Day with a few friends. 2 King of Kentucky's to compare. A wonderful 16y 4R. And several Nulu's - but not just any Nulu. A friend knows the owners. The owners have "X's" on their favorite barrels, mostly MGP, with some Barton. Those"X" 10y hazmats are the best MGP I've ever had. Drink way below proof, tons of flavor, very intense, lonnnnnng finish. I really do enjoy those. Tried 3 of them and felt...either nothing or happy!

Peerless Bourbon SP. Their stuff got way better at 6 years. Headed to Europe for 3 weeks soon. I generally drink very little bourbon while there (unless visiting Obree, then we have quite a bit). More wine & beer, depending on locale. So I'll be on the quiet side for a spell. Actually, with work being so busy, I often miss my 4 O'Clock starting point. So I've been a bit quiescent lately.

I'd say if you enjoy the Heaven Hill standard Bourbon house style (EW, Dant, JTS Brown, ...) you've got a winner. FC at a great deal price, I would stock up.

Squirreled away a couple cases over the past few years. Right up there with 12-year aged stated ECBP for price:value and bunker-ability in my book. Glad to see this sitting on most shelves consistently here in 2025!!

Indeed JJ, I agree that Daniel’s has really upped their game past couple of years, led by this JDSBBP. I love it, and have several bunkered away, as I was picking them to whenever I saw them when they were not easy to find. Luckily, availability has improved to the point I can probably get one any day of the week at a store near me. It is not an everyday pour for me, and maybe not even weekly, because it’s so good I keep it for when I want something special. In an environment where barrel proof bourbons are now readily available from many sources, this is on the “Exceptional” range of that flavor spectrum. So much so, that except for the truly exceptional releases of ECBP, JDSBBP consistently outperforms it, for me. That’s no easy feat.

I've heard great things about the Michter's 10 year rye. Haven't been able to find it locally

I enjoy the 1792 varieties. I have 6 of them in my collection. The small batch is very versatile. Can be enjoyed neat, on the rock, as a mixer. It's fairly priced and easily available too.
