What Water of Life/Scotch are drinking or purchased 2025?

Yessir I've heard many great things so I had to add these to my shelf. Both of these are excellent, hard to pick a favorite. They are different, with the newer 10 having more sherry influence than the original (exactly as I had read in reviews prior to purchasing). Which one do I prefer? Depends if I'm in a real sherry mood or not. Haha yes I'm riding the fence . They are both very high quality whisky and great values for the money. I can see why Arran 10 is considered a staple in the single malt world. For now, these are great for me. I'm sure eventually I will be curious about what what else Arran has to offer higher up in their range like you have. But sounds like your older bottles are something special. - Today

@Kepler, I am interested to see how you like them. I am a big fan of The Arran Malts. I have some old Arran Malt bottles that are cask strength and delicious. I have a single cask bourbon cask that I had to have gotten over 10 years ago. From about the same time I have Single Cask sherry cask as well. I rarely drink them because they are so good and I believe both were under $100. Probably spend a lot more to get that kind of flavor now! I also have a few more recent bottles from them. The Sauternes cask finish is lovely (100 proof) and so is the Amarone Cask finish (100 proof). Finally, I have the Broderick Bay 20 Year cask strength. That is an amazing bottle. Bottom line: Arran makes good scotch. -

Something old, something new (right to left). Recent acquisitions. Curious to find out which one I prefer, if either. -

I'm assuming the more desirable items must run out quickly, then what. The overwhelming majority of those folks wait all day to be offered the basic run of the mill stuff, Benchmark. I suppose it's possible the gift shop people could hold some stuff back, and randomly trot it out. Otherwise, it would only be fair at some point to announce they're all out. Either way, seems it would royally piss off potential customers. No way I'd participate in that nonsense.

Ah 750ml, the size that always fits.

We bought ours at the ABC store in King George, VA a month ago. I pop in there every time we head South to visit family in Va Beach and always ask if they have any allocated bottles. They rarely do, but they did have the 8 year with a one bottle limit. My wife and I each bought one. $44.95 each and HEY! Don't diss the Mellow Corn!

Elmer T Lee - worth it?
Bourserker replied to rzelinka's topic in Premium Bourbons/Specialty Bottlings
50 bucks I'm one of those that remembers seeing 10 of these on the shelf of every store at $25 a piece about 12 - 13 years ago. So I was generous and doubled the price to account for it maybe being a little under priced back then and inflation. It's a decent, easy drinking whiskey like a lot of BT products, but nothing for one to lose their mind over or pay secondary. However, I don't judge...if you really want one and can afford to overpay then have at it. I myself have indulged on a couple of bottles I really wanted...cough...RR13...cough...Michters BP Rye...cough. -
I got one of these (thanks to the random tip I saw that Binny's has these...was passing through Chicago last week) and I'm pumped because I probably would been waiting a while if I tried to get one here in VA. If the state stores put something on the allocated list then it will automatically be hard to find. They could put Mellow Corn on the allocated list and every VA tater and bourbon bro would be milling around in every store and tipping off all their buds to try and get one...ha ha

I'm planning to do this too. However, I will note that regular old ER10 is rare as hens teeth in VA so the dust may not settle here until 2032...lol

Sorry, didn't you hear? After this ER12 at 95 proof is released here are the future plans from BT: ER13 at 96 proof ER14 at 97 ER15 at 98 ER16 at 99 If you want Eagle Rare at 101 you'll just have to stick with the old ER17 BTAC. No soup for you! (and all of us) jk

Yup! The hobby suffers mightily, especially when compared to 12 or 15 years ago. It's just not that much fun any longer. Don't get me wrong. Meeting like-minded folx and sharing nice drams is still all the jollies it ever was. The "pursuit", however, leaves me cold. I no longer have enough of whatever it takes to continue the chase as I did (at lest somewhat) in the bygone days. Do I miss that chase? Maybe a little; but, not enough to matter.
-
Sounds like a great plan. I predict you all will have a splendid time. Enjoy! (and don't forget to share a summary of your experience after you get back).

As you know, no tater pricing in Ohio. However, my local is at the Kroger and the vultures line up every Friday morning to see what came in on the truck. To many good bourbons to be found on the shelves to wait in a stupid line with the idiots. Very easy pass for me.

WHH 13 in the glass tonight. Inspection found multiple issues that the buyer will have to address. We’ll see how it goes.
