What rye are you drinking or purchased 2024
b1gcountry replied to Mattk's topic in American Rye Whiskey
I tried a little more tonight and it is decent. I get a sort of pine or oak shaving vibe to it underpinning some rye notes. The New Riff SB I poured was also hitting pretty well. -
What BEER are you drinking in 2024:

Love it! I've been on a lager kick and it's the season but I'm currently trying to finish a bunch of Treehouse IPAs before they go stale. -

Ha! Not the cat. He’s laughing his ass off while I’m at urgent care! But then, they wouldn’t be cats if they didn’t enjoy my misery! -

For you or the cat? -
I'll put it this way, it's a step up or so up from the the Bulleit or Dickel versions of MGP Rye.

Sorry to hear that PG causes you issues. I’m allergic to cats. I touch a cat and then touch my eyes, and it gets ugly. -
Propylene glycol is indeed in many products. I suffered for years until an allergy doctor in Columbus, IN determined I was allergic to propylene glycol. He discovered this by putting different chemicals on my back, and seeing what caused a reaction on my skin. Knowing that I'm allergic to that has really improved my life. Any products that have propylene glycol I avoid. If I'm exposed to it, the results look like poison ivy. I'll add, when my son was a baby, he broke out in a rash after a bath. My wife and I looked at the soap we used for him and it contained propylene glycol. We changed to a different soap without that and never another rash.

It does not contain, “anti-freeze”, as commonly understood by most of us. Propylene glycol is safely used in food, medicine, and other products throughout the world. Simply, some Europeans markets have different “acceptable” level percentages of it as compared to other markets, including the US. This is one of those weird false narratives that continues to be promoted, for some reason. -
I fear the OGD 16 will be beyond my budget... but I want it! I want it bad!

WAL-MART Liquors.... worth it?

Stop drinking fireball . It is an abomination and it will not advance your palate. In fact, ingesting substances like fireball might make your willie fall off . -
I was down in Virginia today. Not many stores had this on the website, but the one right near me did. At this point I'm a buyer for every ritt sib I come across. I've had over a dozen and all of them have been good to great.
-
I'm always happy to read about something new in the pipeline. Later if I run across it, I feel I know a little what it is, whether I get it or not.
-
After I discovered HH discontinued this, I was on a mission to visit liquor stores in some of Indianapolis most shady neighborhoods, collecting what they had left. That was some of my last true dusty hunting.
-
Good post and thanks for sharing. Not sure that I'd buy it now, unless it was insanely marked down, given that it can be so easily blended at home.

That wouldn't surprise me..... -
No joke, several years ago it was pulled from the shelves in Europe when they discovered the level of propylene glycol it contained. It had to be reformulated for that market. I can't recall if the newer version has none, or much less.

Holy house repair, Batman! Second floor shower in our 80+ year old Wash DC classic colonial is LEAKING onto the kitchen ceiling. How to cope??? Plumbers cut a hole in the ceiling, used sledges to break up the old cast iron, are cutting pvc to fit. Started VOB 100 at 10:20 am local time. Plumber is cutting the edges to smooth the original iron drain pipes as you read this. Sparks all over! Sometimes, NOTHING but the sweet smooth caramel of this sometimes too sweet bourbon satisfies. Maybe a classic Phillie cheesesteak or a Cuban sandwich from my local deli comes close. But, you can’t drink those. -

The UCUF did little for me. A Willetty aftertaste. The flavor to burn ratio was not good. For me, it has not improved for being open for a year or more - unlike many bottles which change enough to inspire a Kafka novel. But. I know others who love it, palates differ. I liked their Small Batch way better. -

A Father’s Day gift from one of my fabulous kids. Just one bottle in this picture opened so far. I’ll get around to opening the others sooner or later. -

The minty note of the Old Fitz made me want some more minty spiciness. On my way to reach for the 4R OBSF, my eyes came across the lonely looking '17 4RSmBLE bottle. It spoke to me. The OBSF will have to wait. -

Good to know. I also have their Uncut unfiltered bottle I purchased at the same time as the small batch but I haven't opened yet. I'll have to crack open the UU soon to compare them. -
It's great to see this old familiar bottle show up again.
