What Bourbon Are You Drinking Spring 2025?

Yeah....it's great, but so is the standard 101...not worth the extra $$$...
  3. Today
  4. Yup and, after the initial pour, it's very good but not much better, (if it all), than the standard offering. I guess that I can to do a blind SBS, but I already know that it's not worth the extra $$. I don't regret the purchase, but will not be replacing these...

What Bourbon Did You Pass On 2025?

Agreed... but I opted for the KC18 that day instead, because the 12 year is ubiquitous, and the 18 not so much.
  6. Enjoying OGD 114 watching the rain. Going to move onto some Bombergers 2025
  7. I think you can always post a new bottle (of any kind) here, or else in the Rye forum. Equally appropriate Nice looking photo, and a really nice looking glass there. Happy fRyeday to you sir!

What bottle did you open in 2025 ?

I’m always a bit confused about where to post the opening of a rye. This thread is in General Bourbon, but the title is “ What bottle did you open in 2025.” And there isn’t an opening thread over in Rye. Anyway, here goes. Good fortune came my way and I procured this JD Rye BiB at a very reasonable price. After sipping on it over the last few hours, I’d say, it is a purchase for me @$35. In the rye forum, I recommend to pick it up at $25. ( I really don’t like to spend other folks money.) For me though, $35 is right. I like it! Cheers

    Empty Bottle Support Group 2025

True, that story sounds familiar; seems like I've read or heard that somewhere. With 20/20 hindsight now, it's amazing to think how much stellar whiskey must have been lost as blends into Seagram's Seven.
  10. Sipping on an new on for me. JD BiB Rye. I like it. For me, I think Jack Daniel’s does rye better than Tennessee whiskey/bourbon. I say this one is a buy, especially if you find it $25 or lower. Oh yeah, and Happy FRyeday!
  11. You should definitely crack your Booker's 25! That's still the best Booker's bourbon I've ever tasted. But I missed scoring my own bottle of that one back then by about a month. (Timing is everything in life, lol). I have no excuse for not yet cracking the Booker's 30th however. I need to find an excuse to remedy that.
  12. We are still in the pre celebratory phase. I don’t think they have a backyard batch. The closest thing would be the Lumberyard Batch. If I do use Bookers to officially celebrate I’ll probably crack my Bookers 25.

    BOTM 05/2025 Old Forester Rye

I've only had OF100 Rye neat. And I've had a lot of it. Once while on vacation in Florida, the beach bar didn't have any good bourbon options but they had OF Rye. I had my share of those neat . Personally, I can't imagine ever adding water or even ice to this particular bottle; I wouldn't expect to work very well. I'm ashamed to admit that I've never even tried OF rye in a home cocktail (but I think I've had it an Old Fashioned before at a restaurant/bar before IIRC). I don't make a lot of cocktails at home, but I should definitely try this one myself sometime. I've had such good luck with Rittenhouse in an Old Fashioned, that I sometimes just get stuck in that rut.

What Bourbon Did You Pass On 2025?

All good passes. I agree along with @rzelinka that the KC12 is perhaps the best and most tempting one out of all those bottles, but sure if you can easily get it for less, there's no reason to overpay.
  15. Not to toot my own horn, but I predicted this. It hasn't landed here my neck of the woods yet but I figure after the initial hype dies down, there will be good deals to be had on the WT8.
  16. That bar is too high, no? I can't think of any $44 bourbon that is $20 better than WT101. If you can think of one please enlighten us. EDIT: P.S. a 1.75 liter handle of WT101 doesn't count
  17. Good eye; I spotted that too. I recently saw that set for about that same price locally so snagged one. At that price, the value actually meets or beats the 750s.
  18. Sounds like it was a great time and some of us missed out (yet again. Hopefully some day) But what about the OF mutant yeast? This is a story I haven't heard about. The only mutant yeast story I know is about Four Roses. I'm eager to hear about the OFBB. I've heard over and over about how the 2013 release was the last great OFBB but I never heard it was because of a special yeast version. Inquiring minds want to know !
  19. New Riff 6 year Malted rye in my glass. Happy fRYEday
  20. I do like how you chose "Front porch batch" to celebrate your new back yard. Too bad they don't release a "Back yard batch" ... or maybe they have already
  21. The backyard has been under remodel and it’s slowly coming together. Happy to be outside relaxing again. Bookers was on the mind.

What Bourbon Did You Pass On 2025?

I passed on Angel's Envy Cask Strength. I thought long and hard about it, but I don't think it was worth the $225 asking price. I find their bourbon to just be okay.

What Bourbon Did You Pass On 2025?

I do too, but it can be found around here for ~ $65.00

What Bourbon Did You Pass On 2025?

Passed on a lot at a Va ABC store... The prices were all good but I exercised restraint...they had a good selection. Booker's $99.99 Heaven Hill Grain to Glass $99.99 are the only prices that I recall but they a lot of different of Woodford Master Series
