  2. I have no idea, but $80 feels like secondary pricing for that product. I'm probably wrong, but that's my gut feeling...
  3. Today
  4. True. I can get Stellum "Black" rye and bourbon for $39.99 now locally. For those of us that experienced American whiskey *before* the bubble, these new prices seem about right for what we are getting. People: Do NOT overpay for bourbon and rye! Prices will return back to sane levels very soon. Just be patient.
  5. So how many of those events are you attending? Lol Indy 500 is easily my pick of those two. I'll definitely be watching. But only after the Monaco Grand Prix in the morning. Memorial Day is hands down the "Holy Grail" DAY for auto racing fans...
  6. How many different stores did you actually try? Did you try any small local "Mom & pop" stores? Your experience seems like common experiences when folks only shop at the "big box" retailers ...
  7. Started the evening with Maker's Mark PS. Then went to EW12, taking inspiration from @NDN98 's post. Good idea, as that was fantastic. Now unwinding with good old simple HH6BiB. Happy Memorial Day weekend to all you SB'ers.
  8. From yesterday. I plead the 5th. Uh….750.

What Bourbon Are You Drinking Spring 2025?

We took a 45 minute drive today to see the buffalo at Nachusa Grasslands. We were in luck. The buffalo were out in the open for a change! So, guess what I'm drinking tonight ?
  10. You inspired me, following your lead... EW12 in my glass now. Don't you just love that this ole' bad boy has a screw cap? I know I do.
  11. Bought 3, they arrived today, and cracked 1 tonight!
  12. Doing a Sbs of a couple of different Maker's Mark Private Select picks. Sometimes MM just hits the spot perfectly.
  13. Thanks for this excellent and thorough rundown; I shall save this for future reference for shopping sometime down the line!
  14. As far as the barrells go. If you ever come across one of their 13 year Canadian rye single barrels, they are worth a purchase. But it has been a few years since they were released. There was a 14 year since then that was pretty good, but tastes like a different distillate to me.

    Empty Bottle Support Group 2025

I haven’t seen it here in Georgia, but I have purchased 2 bottles in the last couple months in South Carolina. Not sure if that indicates irregular distribution, or if my success in SC is due to old inventory. Regardless, I really like this one.

Heck if I know. I'm pretty sure that I bought the bottle that I just killed less than a year ago. I hope so...it's a good one... Edit: it shows in stock at a couple of local LS, (Baltimore metro area)
  18. I had the Barrell Seagrass last night. Not your typical Rye, but it is a Rye nonetheless

thank you for sharing. I enjoy good Manhattan as something different from an Old Fashioned

    Coming of Age

For about the same money, one would be better served to buy Barrell Bourbon and get higher proof offerings that just flat out are better bourbons in my opinion
  21. Better to buy 3 stores picks or 4 regular double oaked for what is essentially the same price
  22. Same thing occurred for me about a month or so ago. I didn't feel terrible about paying $80 for it. Might have had buyer's remorse if I had paid secondary pricing
  23. Bought and opened I've been wanting to try this after reading all the good things about it. After the initial sip? Damn! This is really good!

Is that Jim Beam SiB 108 proof still available? I haven't seen it around me for a couple of years and it doesn't show up on the Jim Beam web site; only the 95 proof version...

    Cocktail Hour - 2025

    Thank you very much!!
  26. I 'switched' to a half-full bottle of Rebel, Cask Strength, SB (120-pr.) in an effort to drink some low-fill bottles down. I certainly couldn't 'drink it down' today; but I did put a dent in it. It's not a really complex pour; but, it is one of the 'sweetest' Bourbons I can ever remember tasting. It's quite nice over a cube, or even neat. I had two pours. One neat and a bigger pour over a cube. That was "more than enough", if ya' know what I mean. I'll work on this one for the next week or two.

    Cocktail Hour - 2025

Another good warmer weather cocktail on the front patio listening to Braves on the radio. Also, named well for the Memorial Day weekend. An Americano in the Yeti.
