This is both a what did you purchase and what are you drinking post. My brother and sister in law were in town last week through the weekend and she's an IPA drinker. Since I didn't have any on hand we went to this little postage stamp of a storefront near me that sells beer. The entirety of the store is four coolers and a small counter with a number of taps if you want to hang out a drink a draft. They only sell single cans/bottles so you can make your own mixed six packs which is a great way to try new things. Imagine my surprise when I saw Pliny the Elder sitting there. I knew that they had started to distribute up here again last year after a long hiatus but I still had never seen one. Better yet there was no limit. I bought six and did leave some. (No guilt because the girl behind the counter told me they had already sold through most of what they got). My sister in law was trying it for the first time and she was very very pleased.

Cracked the Oban 15 CS, it's kinda disappointing. I had higher hopes on this one. Maybe it'll get better after opening, hoping so at least I like the regular Oban 14 better for half the price.

Went on vacation to Lake Michigan this week. Went to the store to buy our groceries and this was on sale for $15. It's gonna be my beach bourbon for the next few days.

I bought a few of those a while back for ~ $37.00 off a clearance shelf and only have one left. It's very, very good...

I picked up a bottle. I enjoyed it. That said, I find you either really enjoy Amburana or you don’t. Likely no in between. I have two other Amburana finished bourbons. One from Starlight and one from Penelope. Penelope is the more subtle of the three. The Starlight is perhaps the most pronounced.

Not sure it's an actual Red-winged Blackbird, since their colors are on the top of their shoulders, and this pic appears to show something "similar-but-not-identical" (no yellow rear-margin to the red/orange patch) but on the bottom of the wing. The pic is so small though that it doesn't present a definitive ID. Just my .$02, FWIW ...and it probably ain't worth much more than that.
