  2. I don't know anything about the brand. Bottled in bond and an age statement would make it very interesting to me. About the color, could've come from a barrel with extra char, and or stored at a top floor of a warehouse, exposed to lots of heat.
  3. That is one of the bottles on my short list. I have even become a bigger fan of the rye. For both
  4. Today
  5. Lustau is headed to the bin! Thankfully I have a backup. this one is worth a repeat purchase.
  6. That is a very deeply colored Straight Rye - for any age under 15-years! It almost loox like something could've been added for that purpose. Against the rules, I know. Let us know what it's like. I've not seen this brand.
  7. Emptied my Bunnahabhain 12 yr bottle last week. It's a very good one. I would definitely replace this one, but since I have a 12 yr cask strength and the 18 year Bunna already open, I'm in no hurry. I kinda feel that a person doesn't have to purchase both the regular 12 and the 12CS. Just pick one and go with it, as both are excellent and a good value for the money.
  8. I also recently picked up a Bespoke release compass box. I haven't opened mine yet.

What bottle did you open in 2025 ?

This normally isn’t distributed in my immediate area, so when it randomly appeared on the shelf of a local LS today, I picked up a bottle. Since it was 90 and humid, it went into the freezer. That first cold sip is heaven!
  11. Interesting, new to me pick up in Chicago this weekend. 6 Yr KC MO distilled J Rieger. The color got me for a 6yr....

What Bourbon Are You Drinking Summer 2025?

Think I know that store, some good selections there, but pricey!!
  13. I sampled a Still Austin Rye tonight. Maybe the most citrus influences I’ve ever had in a Whiskey. I am still pondering whether to buy a bottle or not. Anyone tried this one? I welcome thoughts

    Heaven Hill Grain to Glass

I saw all 3 tonight at a Total Wine in Glendale, CA. $110 each.

What Bourbon Are You Drinking Summer 2025?

I left the country for the week to take my boys to some baseball games in California. Stopped at a Total Wine tonight. Nice to see a liquor store open on a Sunday where they’re closed in Texas. Nice to see EH Taylor, Eagle Rare, Heaven Hill Grain to Glass, all varieties right there for the taking. They also had the Woodford Reserve Baccarat edition there. That said, most prices were about $5-$10 more than what I see back in Texas. Oddly, they do not do sampling of hard liquor there. Evidently they are not permitted to do so. Wow. I opened an airline bottle of the Old Emmer Double Oaked. Very nice. At $100 for a 750ml, it’s a bit expensive, but the juice is nice. Worth sampling if you can

What Beer Are You Drinking In 2025

I know! It was’t until I looked at the can of this beer, that I noticed that CC is doing some things in California.
  18. Mexico USMNT this evening in the Gold Cup final. Working on a reverse jinx by popping the Mexican lager. TBH, I was just looking for an easy drinker in the July sun. But let’s go boys! Last big game until next years WC. And nice to settle the noise that had been surrounding the team.
  19. Good to see Creature Comforts on the other side of the country.
  20. SFTB at 132.9 proof. Happy.

    So, whatcha smokin?

I gave my buddy in FL a harder to get bottle and he returned the deed with a gift pack of Pappy. Yeah, it's the wrong Pappy. I've always coveted the 20yr.
  22. I looked at a store in West Hampton. Would have been crazy, but I did like the store a lot. One heck of a drive from out here though.

What Bourbon Are You Drinking Summer 2025?

I enjoy wheated bourbons, and am not crazy about ryes. That's why I keep passing on the rye. You're not the first person to say they didn't think much of this wheated.
