What bourbon did you purchase this spring season of 2025?
Skinsfan1311 replied to MSB's topic in General Bourbon Discussion
Bwahahaha! It's almost embarrassing to buy whiskey with those little bags or boxes. I tried a couple pours last night. It's pretty damn good. Not $64.00 good, but good. I prefer the HH BiB, both the 6 & 7 year versions, over this. I'll revisit this one later. That said, I won't be running out to replace them when they're gone, unless they come to their senses and drop the price. We all know that ain't gonna happen! - Today

Just noticed this label says 1L....is this actually how it will be released?

But what would the taters think about that? In my neck of the woods, they are more excited about scoring a bottle that comes with the green velvet bag, than what it tastes like. Evidently not all bottles come with the bag (only so many bags are included in a case lot), so it has become a sport amongst the taters to chase the velvet bag. -

Following @fishnbowljoe' lead with Blanton's as my first bourbon pour in the new summer thread. I'm in a bottle clearing mode, so my 2019 Blanton's (on the left) is on the chopping block. I've called this bottle a 'honey barrel' because this one has been about as good as any recent Blanton's is llikely going to be. Took the time to do a SBS with another open bottle (2018 on the right). The 2019 still beats it easily. I'm going to miss the 2019 bottle when it's gone because I just don't see myself purchasing any new ones at the current msrp. -

Today was our quarterly state ABC drop. The last time I got a Weller 107 about a year ago, it was $40ish. Today it was $58.99. The old Fitz was $59.99. Today was a work in the garden beer day so I'll try the old Fitz tomorrow. -

When I blend those two I do 2 parts WTRB to 3 parts RR10. That brings it to roughly 100.72 proof. So it's a more complex WT101. -

I haven’t been much of a buyer of this since the rebranding. Maybe, 2 bottles, total? Perhaps my disinterest has been due to it’s higher price over the 6 year that was mostly $12 when I was buying regularly. Perhaps, I have a good bunker full of those 6 years. Perhaps, it was a GBS sponsored SBS between old and new, where at that time there was not much distinguishing the two, and the group pretty much had them equal in preferences. Perhaps, other HH products have been catching my fancy. Whatever it has been, I felt that today would be the day to pick one up. And, do I did. -

Been looking for these and finally found a couple. I think MSRP is $59.99. I paid $64.00, so my cheap-ass is only slightly chafed. I'd just assume that they ditch the cute sack, and charge less. -
Yup!

Looks delicious. I love eggs Benedict, so I’m guessing this a take on that? Sub Canadian bacon with soft shell crabs? On a side note, I’m pretty sure I’ve never had soft shell crabs. Probably because, though Ive travelled through Maryland, I’ve never spent time there. I know Mrssmokinjoe’s mother travelled there a time, or two, and raved on the seafood options.

Breakfast in a little town on Marylands Eastern Shore. Softshell Benedict. It's soft crab season in MD so I eat 'em a lot

Took a look around for this and didn’t see any. I don’t even bother asking Binnys managers if stuff like this comes in, they usually just lie (that’s my exp anyways). I may be a buyer if I stumble upon it one day, until then, not gonna lose any sleep over this one.

This is my favorite dish currently that’s in the rotation. Aside from the ancient grain bread that I purchased yesterday I buy everything fresh on Saturday morning. Italian egg sandwich. Oil, eggs, garlic, tomato, and basil.

Went for hike after work and had a nice cold beer when I got back (Spotted Cow). After that I cracked a RR10 I've had sitting around for a while. It's been a while since I've had this and now I'm scratching my head as to why I don't normally have one on the shelf... excellent stuff. -

Helluva long, but pretty good week. The current session of the special needs/autism bowling program I help with started Monday. Mid week it was more work in/on the yard. A whole bunch of edgers had to be moved. We picked up another 600 lbs of rocks and placed them in our front yard, and our neighbors side yard. Then it was Friday fish fry at the Legion. A couple of my bowlers help with the fish fry. As an added bonus, some of my bowlers from a group home came to the fish fry. (They aren’t bowling in the summer session.) I talked with them for quite a while. Watched them play darts. Then a few of them sang karaoke. Great night. I’m having a couple of pours of Blanton’s to celebrate. -

Was it the Woodinville 8 year bourbon or the rye? I have their 8 year bourbon from last year but I haven't cracked it open yet. I know that the 8 year Rye has just been released. Curious which one you saw on the shelf. -
I'm climbing a mini Sagamore ladder tonight: 6 yr BiB 100 proof Maryland rye 7 yr 110 proof store pick Indiana rye 9 Year 112.6 proof Indiana rye All are excellent in their own way. Happy fRYEday!

Good call. I also picked up a Spice Tree a week or two ago. It was on clearance sale for a couple bucks off, so it was a no brainer. I prefer it slightly more than the Spaniard. I also picked up the latest Flaming Hearts release but I haven't tried it yet. -
Starting off my FRyeday with a pour of Sagamore 6 yr Bottled in Bond. Tastes nice.
