    Penelope Tojaki Finish Rye 2025

Not the Penelope but I have a bottle of Saints Alley Nobleman rye. It's a blend of straight ryes finished in Tokaji casks. It's the only Tokaji finished whiskey I own, but I haven't opened it yet (so many bottles, so little time, Lol . Saints Alley is an outfit in northern Texas, connected with the Ironroot distillery. This bottle is a blend of MGP rye and their own distillate rye. The blender for Saints Alley is the "Liquor Hound" youtuber, a guy I've followed since I first started on my bourbon hobby. I've always liked his reviews... and at $80 for this bottle, I said to myself "why not?" I need to open my bottle soon. How much does the Penelope cost?
  5. Haha. The most interesting thing about this bottle, not sure you can see the price tag because it's a bit faded. I paid $47 for this actual bottle. That was 2016. It was sitting on shelf in a small town. My how times have changed!

What Bourbon Are You Drinking Summer 2025?

    The Fuckn' Bottle!
  7. Opened this up tonight. Cork broke so I had to decant and filter into a saved empty and then pour it back in. Found a good replacement cork too. All good. And the most important thing is that the whisky tastes great. I like this one.

    Hockey decanter

I have an unopened bottle of OBR bourbon in an Hockey Player Decanter. I believe the bottle dates from 1971. It is in Philadelphia Flyers colors. The bottle and tax seal are pristine. The box it came in is not in great shape. I have found listings online of empty bottles but never an unopened bottle. Can someone help me find a value of the bottle? Thanks James
  9. Attachment test. Looks like it works again.

    BOTM 08/2025 Angel’s Envy

I find AE to be OK. I like the btl, I find it very pleasing on the eye. However the whiskey inside leaves me wishing I would have saved my money. It is not undrinkable but just lacking what I like in a bourbon. I think it is over priced and under proof. The distillery is pretty cool and I enjoyed my tour there. Most tours that I have enjoyed, I feel we're enjoyed, because of the tour guide. The young lady we had was funny, engaging and interested in us as we were with her. Now on the other hand, I really enjoy the higher proofs from AE. Not all but most that I have had. The flight I drank at the distillery were delicious as are 2 outta 3 SiB State Picks from SD for Sturgis. Yrs 23' and 24' I found to be very good, 25' not so much. And i think they are still priced higher than they should be. This yrs will probably be my last of these picks because it was very disappointing. Better than the off the shelf version but for the 100$ (approximately) I won't risk the purchase of following yrs unless I get to try before I buy. All this and I think i am not much on finished bourbons. Rye's different story. But not AE's rye. Way too sweet for me. Thanks Jazz June for posting this months BOTM! I appreciate the work and detail you have been putting into this subject.

What Bourbon Are You Drinking Summer 2025?

These are the winners. Started the evening with Saz18 while was a little harsh on first sip, but ended up being a fantastic pour. That was followed by GTS which was amazing as always. Looking forward to the next time I can make it back there and hope the same list is in play.

I'm not THAT old (59)..but I do remember watching George Burns...mostly from the Oh, God movies. My cool lighting is from the hot tub during my weekly "Sunday Night Ritual". As for replacing, I'll still pick them up if I can get at msrp ~150. I probably have another couple in the bunker, and a 2016 "scroll" bottle I got the day my dad died.
  14. The lender claims Nearest Green associates misused loan funds in several significant ways. It's well beyond that the business wasn't making enough money. Allegations in the article seem like premeditated fraud. That's where the receivership comes in. The home on Martha's Vineyard wtf

    Penelope Tojaki Finish Rye 2025

Thank you. I've never tried Tokaji, but I do enjoy a sweeter bourbon which is why I tend to gravitate towards wheated bourbons. On the flip side, I don't tent to enjoy ryes, unless of course it's in an Old Fashioned. That said, I have started to warm to ryes. To your point, finished anything is not everyone's cup of tea. I tend to enjoy finished bourbons which is why I have som many Penelope varieties.

Have you or will you replace it? I'm not sure I will replace mine when it's gone. It was the first bourbon that clearly helped me to understand what an oaky whiskey/ bourbon tastes like. I had not noticed that characteristic prior with any of the others I've tasted, even the Knob Creek 18.
  17. Thank you. I have the peerless double oaked rye. It was good. I preferred the Sagamore over the Peerless the last time I blinded them. Could have been that I was getting over a cold. Will try it again. That aside, it seems Sagamore and Peerless are the two most propose.

I don’t know his age but he’s always got the cool lighting!

"Say goodnight, Gracie"??? Are you THAT OLD, Clueby??? I recall my parents laughing the butts off at George and Gracie when I was a wee lad. ...Well, maybe not altogether 'wee', I guess. But I AM THAT OLD, so there's that.
  21. Peerless. quit looking elsewhere.
  22. GTS is definitely the best bang for the buck on that list regardless of which years release it is. Looks like they might be based on bottle purchase price, rather than whiskey knowledge. Some of those prices are "huh?"

  24. Went for a 4 mile hike with the missus today since the heat wave finally broke this weekend. Upon arriving home she poured herself a delicious Hefeweizen. I took a sip and promptly got my own. This KC brewery does an absolutely fantastic job on their German brews. My sister lives about a mile away and still hasn’t gotten the hint about visiting the place any time she needs a gift for me….she always has been a little clueless . Luckily they distribute east.
  25. Nicely done sir! Someday I hope to try it for the first time as well. It’s been on my list for years, but never seems to work out.
  26. I'll play along. My guess is GTS and the 18 year Saz Rye. What would I have picked? GTS and the 18 year Saz Rye.
