What Bourbon Did You Purchase Summer 2025?

I'd pull the trigger at $158. It would only be an occasional drinker anyway. I'll probably end up with one down the road. I'm nothing, if not patient....
  4. Looks delicious. I never found that one when visiting KY, but the other flatboat products I’ve tried were all good bang for the buck. I would guess the 125p will be good.
  5. I paid $158 for mine. Still expensive and still overpriced, but the drop was enough to trigger me to buy. Since I had tasted it and wanted a bottle it was worth it to me. They were $200 when they first came out around here.

What Bourbon Did You Purchase Summer 2025?

So far the only one that I've seen around here, (Baltimore Metro area), is $199.00. That said, I haven't really looked but will keep an eye out for it....

    Woodford Reserve Baccarat

Well all is well that ends well. At dinner tonight I spoke to our sommelier and he was able to get me a sample of the Woodford Reserve Baccarat. It was okay. Not great, not terrible. Glad I was able to check that one off my list. I will not add it to my collection at $2000. I would rather put those funds towards adding Eagle Rare 17, or William Larue Weller or George T Stagg. I can likely add two of those three for the same $2000. Maybe all three if I were to get lucky.

What Bourbon Did You Purchase Summer 2025?

Thank you for sharing. I saw it at a total wine in Los Angeles a couple weeks back. Ironically it is now cheaper online
  11. I haven't opened my bottle yet, but I tried it a bar a couple months back and I really enjoyed. I had passed on it when it first came out, but the price has gone down since then so I grabbed one.

How is the 16 year? I have seen this one lately and pondered getting it

  16. On my trip to Alaska, I found a bar that had the Woodford Reserve Baccarat edition. All excited to try it as I am not likely to plunk down $2000 on a bottle, at least not that bottle As quick as my excitement grew, my disappointment grew faster as they could not sell it as it was not entered into their system. Sigh… For whatever it’s worth, most who have tried it have told me it’s not the best bourbon I will ever sample so maybe I just saved myself some money?
  17. Just an illustration for how connected the world is. My uncles left Chicago for Northern California and landed in Pinole. I bet he heard of this bourbon. Sadly, I won’t get to ask him as he left us far too soon. At the same time, I had many lunches at the Berghoff downtown. Always had great Wiener schnitzel

What Beer Are You Drinking In 2025

I just wrapped up my Alaskan trip. What not a better way to conclude than with a nice Guinness?
  19. On my final day in the Pacific Northwest I stopped at Twa Dogs distillery. If you’re a fan of Irish whisky or scotch whisky, you are likely to enjoy this.
  20. It's Orloso and something else cask finished. I usually dont trust cask finishing, because (and maybe I'm paranoid) it can be a red flag the underlying distillate wasn't that good and the cask finish is an attempt to mask or change a dissapointing original outcome. Should've stuck with my gut of avoiding these types of offerings.
  21. Jay Vee is still in El Cerrito. May have had multiple locations in the 70s and 80s and possibly still. Haven’t been inside in years.
  22. This past week, I have tried more than a few scotches. I have concluded my palette just isn’t ready for them. Or maybe it is just that I am used to bourbon and American whiskey. Today I will be on a Canadian whiskey tasting tour. It will be interesting to see how I feel about Canadian which I have not sampled in decades now.

    Empty Bottle Support Group 2025

I know, right? Had I known how good it is, I would've cleared the shelf and not been so generous with it at one of our tailgates!

What Bourbon Are You Drinking Summer 2025?

I just ordered one which will hopefully arrive on Friday. I am looking forward to this one. Now if I could find the port finished variety for a good price, that would be great but I don’t think that’s likely
  25. Good to know. I usually prefer CS bottles. Different finish or supposedly the same Oban but CS?
  26. My post should have read "I'm not usually a fan of FINISHED bourbons." Guess I need to remember to put my readers on when posting.
