  2. Long before TW came to my state, years ago I was reading posts here from members that claimed to have spent a lot. They racked up points, were never offered the bottles they desired. I suspect unless a person is buying for a business or regularly throws parties like the beginning of The Great Gadsby - not enough to get noticed. There are some games that the way I win is not to play. On the other end of the spectrum, mash bill #2 Bourbons include: Ancient Age 80 proof (36 months), Ancient Age 90 proof, and Ancient Age 10 Star (used to be 10 year). I believe the AA90 and AA 10* have limited distribution. Any comments on those.
  3. nice way to watch the game... sadly the one that got away.

  5. This bottle was gifted to me. Really nice presentation. Curious if anyone has sampled it? I'm usually soft on Canadian Whisky as there is so much ambiguity related to what is in the whisky.

    What’s on the menu????

Yes, that's one of the many blessings about Texas. One could walk into virtually any liquor store and find Buffalo Trace, Weller Special Reserve near MSRP (every now and again below). What one cannot easily find is Old Forester 1924. I saw it for the first time yesterday and the bottle was being listed in a silent auction.
  7. Happy Father's Day to all. I sampled the WT101 and 1792 Single Barrel last night while watching the hockey game. Has anyone tried the 1792 12 year?
  8. That's a good line up. I hope the best for you moving forward.
  9. Today will be some 1792 FP, OGD 114 and WT 101 8 year!!! Happy Fathers Day. A bit of a somber one for me, but we are moving forward... Cheers to you all...
  10. Nicely done. Always a solid bourbon. I am happy to see it available again at closer to MSRP pricing
  11. I dig it! Simple and in expensive. Right up my alley Thank you, sir.
  12. Yes, I would love to know the process as my cubes, rocks are always cloudy
  13. MM tonight, and got the dried beans soaking overnight to make chili tomorrow.

What Bourbon Did You Pass On 2025?

That extra little round label would've made it more interesting.
  15. There's no need to buy any fancy contraption. Follow the instructions in this video. I have an inexpensive Igloo cube cooler that fits nicely in my garage freezer.

I agree! I think Castle and Key is in one of the most scenic hollows of the Bourbon Trail. I saw it in the late winter/ early spring when nothing was green but could see the beauty that it holds. Worth a quick drive thru and or short visit.
  17. Nice CLEAR ice cube. Care to share your "recipe" on the process? Please and Thank you.

    Buffalo Trace

Yes, I see have seen it this way for no less than the last year.
  19. I made a batch of clear cubes today, so I figured I better have a pour on one. I forget what batch this bottle is. I went to Heaven Hill a year ago and snagged one of the blank stickers. I was going to copy the proof of this bottle to the ticker then add something clever. We'll, none of that ever happened! Oh well...
  20. Emptied this one. This has to be my favorite $50 scotch. Great value. Already have a backup.

For anyone who has never been to bourbon country before, in my opinion a Maker's Mark tour is priority number one, a definite must see. I would skip the Buffalo Trace bottle chasing event for Maker's Mark. You can purchase bottles back home.

    Buffalo Trace

Nothing new. It's been this way in Texas for about 2 years.
