    Old Forester King Ranch

Sometimes it's worth it for the experience. As much as I complain about overpriced bourbons, I purchase them myself often just out of curiosity. You only live once.

    Old Forester King Ranch

It's not a bad bourbon. That said, at $90 it's a bit high. I got it for $80. Still too high, but I was intrigued.
  4. Now we are talking... Ribeyes. Fabulous

What Beer Are You Drinking In 2025

So many Leine varieties that I have enjoyed. My favorite craft beer, before Miller bought them anyhow.
  6. I took a ribeye and made some steak fajitas and elote for Cinco de Mayo and my wife’s birthday. I was sipping on some MMCS while the steak, veggies and corn grilled.

    Bourbon Smoker

Depends on the wood used to smoke the drink. In a restaurant or bar it is more about the presentation.

    Bourbon Smoker

I should try it. Like a peated scotch?

    Linie Aquavit

No apologies necessary. I'm not too interested to try it

    Linie Aquavit

I swear that someone here posted about this recently, but I can’t find it. But I did find this older thread talking about it. https://www.straightbourbon.com/community/search/?q=Linie &quick=1

    Bourbon Smoker

Interesting. I've never even ordered a smoked cocktail before in a bar. I used to see a bunch of bourbon fans ordering their Old Fashioneds smoked this way. Just curious... what's the appeal?
  15. "a cinnamon finish and seems more playful" Playful .... care to elaborate? Sounds like the finish on the WT8 kinda just draws you in for another pour?

    Linie Aquavit

Never heard of it. Made from potatoes... Irish or Russian whiskey? Sorry, that was uncalled for. Sounds interesting nonetheless. Let us know if you open it up and how it tastes.
  17. Some good old WT 101 by the fire, waiting for the fire to get right on for some ribeyes u
  18. I once toured their brewery in Chippewa Falls back in the early 2000s when I was working in St. Paul which is about an hour and half drive away. It was great. I became a Leinie fan after that for a few years but I've drifted away from them over time. They seemed to have changed a lot and gone a bit "corporate" compared to how they were when I was there (no surprise, ...as with everything else these days). I'm not even sure that it's still made in Chippewa Falls anymore but I hope so? Their standard original was my favorite back then.
  19. All this EH Taylor talk has reminded me that I didn't have a bottle of the regular Small Batch open. And to my point in another thread regarding price, I paid $33.99 for this bottle in 2018. This one tastes like what it is: an elevated tasting experience over the regular BT bourbon and bottled at 100 proof. The flavor still shows that familiar tie to the great Old Charters of yesteryear. An excellent example of a true classic bourbon. Cheers!

    Old Forester King Ranch

I want to say that the first release of King Ranch was selling for $65 to 75. But when the second wave of it hit the market a few months later the price shot up to $85 to 90. I never bought a bottle because of the price.
  21. let us know how this one is. I have the single barrel and enjoyed it. This looks great.

BT to add EH Taylor product to BTAC line

Since we know it will be 100 proof, the million dollar question is: What's the age going to be? They already have Eagle Rare with the same mashbill boasting 101 proof at 17 years. So I'm gonna guess 10-12 years for the CEHT in order to differentiate it.

Thanks for posting that Joe. Attaching the alleged labels

Yeah, I get it. My favorite is 1910, although the single barrel is very good too. I am excited to try the 1924. It should arrive this week.
  25. Much thanks to @Kepler and @Galvin0791 for the heads up about this. https://www.foodandwine.com/eh-taylor-bottled-in-bond-buffalo-trace-antique-collection-2025-11727871
  26. These red labels still haven't made it to my state yet. No idea what the hold up is. Every store owner I've asked give me the same response. "Four Roses single barrel changed to a brown label, not red." Had to venture to Louisiana to find it, and only found two of the three there so not sure if I'll ever find the one I'm missing...
  27. I've long been an OF fan so when I went to Houston for work in early 2024 I made it my mission to find it. I had assumed it was prevalent, but it took me one Total Wine and 4 different Spec's before I finally found it. Bought two, bunkered one, still have about half of the other in the bottle. I enjoy it, but it's not worth the $85 I paid for it. If it were same price as 1920 I'd be much happier.
  28. A blind sbs is the way to go! ( hindsight, i should have done that at the bar) Great to hear your input.
