    Wild Turkey 101 - 8 Year

We bought ours at the ABC store in King George, VA a month ago. I pop in there every time we head South to visit family in Va Beach and always ask if they have any allocated bottles. They rarely do, but they did have the 8 year with a one bottle limit. My wife and I each bought one. $44.95 each and HEY! Don't diss the Mellow Corn!

Elmer T Lee - worth it?

50 bucks I'm one of those that remembers seeing 10 of these on the shelf of every store at $25 a piece about 12 - 13 years ago. So I was generous and doubled the price to account for it maybe being a little under priced back then and inflation. It's a decent, easy drinking whiskey like a lot of BT products, but nothing for one to lose their mind over or pay secondary. However, I don't judge...if you really want one and can afford to overpay then have at it. I myself have indulged on a couple of bottles I really wanted...cough...RR13...cough...Michters BP Rye...cough.

    Wild Turkey 101 - 8 Year

I got one of these (thanks to the random tip I saw that Binny's has these...was passing through Chicago last week) and I'm pumped because I probably would been waiting a while if I tried to get one here in VA. If the state stores put something on the allocated list then it will automatically be hard to find. They could put Mellow Corn on the allocated list and every VA tater and bourbon bro would be milling around in every store and tipping off all their buds to try and get one...ha ha

    Eagle Rare 12yr

I'm planning to do this too. However, I will note that regular old ER10 is rare as hens teeth in VA so the dust may not settle here until 2032...lol
  7. How do ya' like it, Phil?

Sorry, didn't you hear? After this ER12 at 95 proof is released here are the future plans from BT: ER13 at 96 proof ER14 at 97 ER15 at 98 ER16 at 99 If you want Eagle Rare at 101 you'll just have to stick with the old ER17 BTAC. No soup for you! (and all of us) jk

Yup! The hobby suffers mightily, especially when compared to 12 or 15 years ago. It's just not that much fun any longer. Don't get me wrong. Meeting like-minded folx and sharing nice drams is still all the jollies it ever was. The "pursuit", however, leaves me cold. I no longer have enough of whatever it takes to continue the chase as I did (at lest somewhat) in the bygone days. Do I miss that chase? Maybe a little; but, not enough to matter.

Sounds like a great plan. I predict you all will have a splendid time. Enjoy! (and don't forget to share a summary of your experience after you get back).

As you know, no tater pricing in Ohio. However, my local is at the Kroger and the vultures line up every Friday morning to see what came in on the truck. To many good bourbons to be found on the shelves to wait in a stupid line with the idiots. Very easy pass for me.

    Thank you sensei.
  13. New Riff SB Barrel strength in the glass. This is just really good Bourbon.

  15. WHH 13 in the glass tonight. Inspection found multiple issues that the buyer will have to address. We’ll see how it goes.

Elmer T Lee - worth it?

I think each of us needs to set a limit. For some it will be to never pay over MSRP. For others, it will be something different. If it makes you happy, by all means do it
  17. Just seeing it in Maryland outside of DC for 109. Want to try it, but pass at that price. Also pass on an Elmer T Lee at 1:29.

We plan on heading there right after lunch at Beam. Just waiting on them to release tours for our date.

Wish they'd released this at 101 proof. I don't see me going out of the way at all to find this unless I stumble across it at MSRP, and if the availability of ER10 is any indication as to the availability of ER12 then it'll be a couple years (and likely out of state) before I buy it.
  20. I hope I can find a btlnof that.

  23. Some of this Saturday night post dinner after a day on the lake.
  24. Overpaying for ETL or regular Blanton's - I can't really condone. What you have to do (within reason) to get: Blanton's Gold, SFTB, or RHF - you have my blessing.

I should clarify. I like ER10 quite a bit and will buy it if I see at msrp. I will certainly buy ER12 under the same circumstances. There's no way however that I would be in that big line at BT. I'm not willing to chase anymore. It will come to me in time.
  26. Ha! Yeah, Collette’s is nicer, and has more of a “fancier” menu than Frankie’s. That said, we do Colletta’s maybe twice a year. Frankie’s once a month! Just a solid local Italian joint. We typically order to go, and I insist on getting there early so I can have a bourbon at the quaint and small bar while I wait for the bags to come out!

Agree. BUT, I give a damn because I like ER but I am not going to over pay for it if there is dust in the air or when the dust settles. Higher proof, extra age, and from BT, I look forward to trying it.
