  2. I’ll be interested in hearing your bourbon moving strategy. Movers I’ve used in past wouldn’t touch my collection.
  3. Pouring rain here with storms all weekend. Grabbing a pour of Old Fitz 17 tonight. We are going to start going through the “clutter” and getting rid of a lot of accumulated stuff in preparation of the move. If it all falls apart, the stuff still needs to go. Less is more. Cheers!
  4. The inspector is going over it on 6/16. He is amazingly thorough. We passed on another property after reading his inspection report of 96 pages.

What rye are you drinking or purchased 2025

This Copper Fox stuff is not very good. I wasn't crazy about the initial pours a year ago, and hoped it would be better now. It's not. It's a young, sweet mess and unbalanced...the bottle would be a drain pour, except I'll give it to our son and his friends will drink it. I can't finish it. I'm drinking the Widow Jane, just to get the taste out of my mouth.
  7. My reward for completing a little bit of yardwork on a Friday afternoon in the mid 90's ...
  8. I like Elmer T Lee.......at retail. While it is a good bourbon, I would not pay anywhere close to $100 or more for it. Same for Rock Hill Farms. I once traded 2 Weller 12s for a Rock Hill Farms back during COVID, because I let FOMO get the best of me and I regretted it as soon as I tasted it. It too is a good bourbon, but not as good as the Weller 12 I traded for it. Just my opinion.
  9. Negative. Cool bottle. Not exactly certain why but I’ve limited my scope in bourbon and for whatever reason I’m not expanding my strike zone for it.
  10. Light your money on fire! Love it. You seem resourceful. I bet you find Elmer soon in your spending parameters.
  11. I always let them breathe for no less than 15-20 minutes. After all these years, I still don't pick up on the things others do. I did pick up on oak, that is sure, but not the other things. I'll give it a shot again over the weekend. Thank you

There were six bottles when I arrived. Now there are five. As Jed Clampett might say, "Tonight, we commence to a-tastin." Oh, and $35 was the damage.

    Penelope 17 year American Whiskey

Let it breathe for a little in the bottle and the glass. I let it open up for 15-20 minutes in the glass. I get sweet, apple, cinnamon, oak. The flavor profile is unique. Strong and rich but light at the same time. Hard to explain. I would try it again.

Elmer T Lee - worth it?

If you have never had a bottle it's understandable that you'd want to scratch the itch despite the premium price. Most of us who remember Elmer being on the shelf at MSRP will skip it and any of the other BT bottles at inflated prices. We have so much bourbon we can enjoy at regular prices. We've all gone through the cycle of overpaying for bourbons that have been out of reach before settling in to being satisfied by what we can get without any hunting. There was a time when the hunt excited me. Those days are long gone.
  15. As someone who has been into bourbon for a long time these don't interest me at the price. Apart from the rye they are too young to be at that price point in my opinion given all the other options in the HH portfolio. Were I to taste it I might change my mind of course but the price point is a barrier against that.
  16. I have the small batch and a single barrel store pick from Total Wine. I think they're okay. I would love to try a higher proof offering from them

    BOTM 07/23 Eagle Rare 10yr

It's not as rare as is once was here in South Texas. Fairly easy to find and not at a king's ransom price either which is great too as this is an exceptional bourbon to me.

yes, I agree it is confusing. Thank you for posting this. I had not made the connection. I just thought they were all the same.

I think I saw it at Hi Proof for +/- $35. Of course you have to pay shipping and insurance

Since I started being active here on SB, I have been keeping an eye out for it. There is a store that had a couple btls a month or so ago. I was in said store earlier this wk and noticed they had 4+btls. Did they have them in hiding or did they get a delivery? I did not ask so I do not know. I am tempted to pick one up but I prefer the OF 100 for almost 10$ less. Does this qualify me as a cheap bastard?
  21. You are welcome. I understand your position. That theory has crossed my mind several times. Personally I could not and will not feed the beast of greed to anyone for anything. My stance is there are so many other good bourbons out there that I enjoy that I don't have to hunt and spend a day running to every LQ store in FOMO and those other bourbons I enjoy, come at a lower price. I am no spring chicken nor am I long in the tooth, yet. I am approaching my fixed income yrs as well. I have a bunker of bourbon that is part of my retirement plan. I won't be buying much when I retire. Exceptions will be made. My thoughts on "time is on your side", I should have been more clear of what I meant. What I mean by that is the bourbon boom is busting. I believe the hard to get bourbons will become more readily available and at or near MSRP. Not today or next month but the near future. ( I do not include the WLW, GTS, PVW, OFBB and so on, those will be difficult to get no matter what) I am seeing prices drop on some regularly available and desirable btls. OF 1920, I am seeing the price on these drop from 65ish down to 52ish. HMcK 10yr, 70+ now down to 55ish (i hope they return to the 25$/btl). It will take time and I hope it doesn't take yrs for the rest to adjust. You can be the only one to decide what a fair price is for any btl. Just as I do. And everyone else here on SB does. Nobody right, nobody wrong. ( Michael Franti) When I get off work, I'll tip a glass to you and everyone else. CHEERS!
  22. And maybe throw in some exotic single malts too. Ha-ha
  23. To inspect the roof, they better get a ladder and get up on the roof. None of this look with binoculars, seems ok - another story. Hey, I'm celebrating with JW Dant, Pacers 111 win over OKC 110. Had to be seen to be believed. Pacers were behind the whole game until the last .3 of a second and won by 1 point. It was at OKC with a really loud crowd too. Now the Thunder and their fans have several days to think about it.
  24. Finally! I’m a big fan of the blue label bottle, but everyone keeps trying to tell me Im wrong and that the rye and wheat are the best. Luckily we know the truth.

I saw one recently in a TW store, but it was one lone bottle in mixed in with other stuff where it didn't appear to belong. Dang, I snould've probably grabbed it.
