    Ezra Brooks 90 proof

I just found out that Ezra Brooks 90 proof was reintroduced into the market after being discontinued for a year or two. I’m so excited. I just bought a case today. Is anybody else as excited as I am?
  3. Had to line up my tater bags. I was missing a black one (PVW23 anyone?) until @0895 reminded me that BGold comes in a black velvet bag. Regular B brown bags don't have the same texture. I guess I could throw a Crown Royal up there, too.

What Bourbon Are You Drinking Summer 2025?

After a long day at the beach, those who know Fred relax with a Pikesville. Fred himself, having acquired a marine patina to equal the finest Lagavulin, relaxed with kibble.

    Help Planning Husbands Dream Trip

Hi BourbonWife. If you two are flying in, I highly recommend you familiarize yourself with everything there is to know about how much alcohol you can have in a checked in bag. I'm sure you and your husband will find some bottles that you will want to take back with you. And consider how you will protect those bottles. I can't think of anything worse than paying big $$ for bottles that bust open in your checked bags. You two will have a blast! I just returned from Bardstown two days ago. I went with my 21 year old son for his first time there. He loved it! I'm happy to see you can attend the Chihuly event at Maker's Mark. We stopped by there two days ago and his exhibits that were scattered about the grounds were stunning!

  7. Enjoying a sample of a Stagg Jr. single barrel from a friend tonight. It’s hitting all the right notes.

  9. I hopefully finished my war with the yellow jackets in the front yard today. So a bourbon seemed just right. I decided to have a pour of this jbdc i happen to own.
  10. All we know for sure is, they have to put the state where it was distilled on the label; state where it was bottled too, if that's different. Anyway, I went back to the Whiskey Tree thread. It turns out Barton happens to be (75/15/10) mash bill also.
  11. Thanks for the info. I'm familiar with Seelbach's the online retailer but not the whiskey brand itself. There are so many 'Johnnie come lately' brands of NDP sourced whiskey, I can't keep up.
  12. They are worth looking into. They dont just have a line of whiskies, but they are an online retailer that has built up some great connections with good brands. Despite owning a retail shop in NY, I still just bought a Dark Arts bottling from them that isn't available here in NY otherwise. They also have some pretty good glasses that I think are comparable to Glencairns.

    So, whatcha smokin?

  14. I was able to score one of the 233 bottles of the Lost Lantern Frey Ranch 100% Wheat Whiskey, Single Cask #11. It is excellent. Very balanced and smooth with sweetness and a little spice. Very happy with the purchase and the price. I am big fan of wheat whiskeys and Wheated Bourbons, and this does not disappoint. Rating: 8.5/10. https://www.lostlanternwhiskey.com/product/frey-ranch-estate-wheat/
  15. I have seen the 14 year light whiskey/Guero from Savage and Cooke. It looked interesting and as I have mentioned here before, I have 4 other light whiskey's (Penelope 15 year, Jacobs Pardon, RY3, and Cat's Eye Obtainium). I enjoy them immensely and find them to be very corn forward and generally sweet with other nuanced flavors. When I saw the Guero aged in Pinot Noir casks, I was intrigued. The explanation/fact sheet is below but my two cents are as follows. It is very consistent with a light whiskey (although the ABV is under 60% and the lowest of any light whiskey I have) in terms of the sweet and vanilla like flavors you get on the palette. However, the wine cask influence is definitely noticeable and an interesting departure from what I have come to expect from light whiskey. It is not an overly sweet (the wine flavor) but rather fruity and a little tangy. It balances the whiskey well. I only had it the other day and was not feeling my best. If my opinion changes, I will update. However, this is a solid and unique addition to the collection. Rating: 8.25/10 https://savageandcooke.com/spirits/guero-american-whiskey-15-year/
  16. Ahh okay. Yeah being Kentucky there's no telling who made it. I'm not familiar with that brand personally so I don't have any idea either .
  17. https://www.seelbachsspirits.com/product/10-year-batch-002-131-2-proof-10-year-cask-strength-kentucky-straight-bourbon Mashbill can be found there. Apparently only 608 bottles made.
  18. b002 is actually Kentucky. Just not sure where. Hard for me to even get a tell on it by taste either tbh.
  19. I am thinking about picking up Batch 2.
  20. Probably says "distilled in" with a location in fine print on the back label. If it says distilled in Indiana, then it's MGP.

I've heard similar from others on the Smoke Wagon. It's one of the factors that have prevented me from buying a bottle. Thank you for sharing

What Bourbon Are You Drinking Summer 2025?

I see these from time to time. Who sources the the bourbon for them? They often come with excellent reviews
  25. That definitely makes sense. Thanks.
  26. I always understood it as Masters first week of April and then wait until Father’s Day for the US Open. By slotting in the PGA in May you can keep some momentum of enthusiasm for golf built around the majors. I’m sure summer heat was built into that decision making. And that clears the way for the Fed Ex Playoffs to end the golf year but that hasn’t caught on like they hoped.
  27. That's an odd experience IMHO, as I don't feel the 12 and 15 are THAT much different (one being a drain pour for you and the other something you actually enjoy). I found the regular 12 at 80 proof to be just too thin to be enjoyable (but not a drain pour). I really like the 12 Cask strength however. Just more evidence about the weird differences in all our palates! Bottom line is that I'm glad you found an Irish whiskey that you enjoy. Irish pot still whiskey is definitely a different breed of cat.
