What Bourbon Are You Drinking Summer 2025?
Bourserker replied to fishnbowljoe's topic in General Bourbon Discussion
Went for hike after work and had a nice cold beer when I got back (Spotted Cow). After that I cracked a RR10 I've had sitting around for a while. It's been a while since I've had this and now I'm scratching my head as to why I don't normally have one on the shelf... excellent stuff. - Today

What Bourbon Are You Drinking Summer 2025?

Helluva long, but pretty good week. The current session of the special needs/autism bowling program I help with started Monday. Mid week it was more work in/on the yard. A whole bunch of edgers had to be moved. We picked up another 600 lbs of rocks and placed them in our front yard, and our neighbors side yard. Then it was Friday fish fry at the Legion. A couple of my bowlers help with the fish fry. As an added bonus, some of my bowlers from a group home came to the fish fry. (They aren’t bowling in the summer session.) I talked with them for quite a while. Watched them play darts. Then a few of them sang karaoke. Great night. I’m having a couple of pours of Blanton’s to celebrate.- 1 reply

What Bourbon Did You Pass On 2025?

Was it the Woodinville 8 year bourbon or the rye? I have their 8 year bourbon from last year but I haven't cracked it open yet. I know that the 8 year Rye has just been released. Curious which one you saw on the shelf. -
I'm climbing a mini Sagamore ladder tonight: 6 yr BiB 100 proof Maryland rye 7 yr 110 proof store pick Indiana rye 9 Year 112.6 proof Indiana rye All are excellent in their own way. Happy fRYEday!

Good call. I also picked up a Spice Tree a week or two ago. It was on clearance sale for a couple bucks off, so it was a no brainer. I prefer it slightly more than the Spaniard. I also picked up the latest Flaming Hearts release but I haven't tried it yet. -
Starting off my FRyeday with a pour of Sagamore 6 yr Bottled in Bond. Tastes nice.

Well if it makes you feel any better, just remember the glass bottle is black and you can't see the level inside. Just tell yourself that it's still 3/4 full ... no anxiety!

Interesting. I've never heard of it before. Sounds great though.

Wow! Great looking nachos! Most times, restaurant nachos leave me disappointed. Though, I did have one of the best I’ve had at a recent vendor lunch at The Yardhouse at the Battery Atlanta. Yours look absolutely AWESOME! I’m sure I’d crush those.

So it was a heck of a frustrating day. Fryeday it is, just one today as I still do work tomorrow. I wince a bit every time I pour from this bottle as it feels like it is getting quite low. But that doesn't detract from my enjoyment of the liquid in the glass. Cheers.

Yup, polish whiskey, finished in bourbon and American rye casks. I love it, and I'm mostly skeptical of proof and wood stuff. A few senator picks and some of the tumbling dice picks have been really good. But proof and wood has been more miss then hit for me. Anyway this particular run was called the stranger and it is amazing. It drinks like a really well balanced high rye rye, but with somehow just more flavor. It reminds me of a really good michters 10 rye if you brought the proof up to 105 and canceled out any of the stone fruit flavors.

I understand. Sometimes you feel like a sherry bomb, sometimes you don't. I have more wine/sherry/port, etc. finishes than bourbon or other wood finishes in my single malt collection. However, I am not always in the mood for that flavor profile. I really enjoy all different casks, but from a collectors perspective, it is fun the amount of different types of finishes exist in the wine world. Different kinds, different time in them, different bases, different aged end products, etc. -

The Spice Tree is a very interesting bottle. The Spaniard was a steal! Sad to see them go. -

Picked up a bottle of The Spice Tree, since it has been retired/discontinued by Compass Box, along with The Spaniard. Both of those are two that I have always tried to keep on hand, but I have also tried the new ones that will be replacing them in the regular line-up, and they do not disappoint either. -

Just went to 1 store today (Spec's) to pick up a bottle of Scotch, but there was a ton of formerly hard to find stuff sitting on the shelves. EH Taylor Small Batch, Buffalo Trace, Wild Turkey 101 8-year, and Weller SR were all sitting on the shelves. Didn't need any of those and stuck to the mission and just grabbed the Scotch. I also saw a Woodinville 8-year, which was tempting until I saw the price. They wanted $130 for it, so I passed. I have enjoyed the couple of bottles of Woodinville that I have had, but that seemed like a lot for an 8-year. -
I burned it at both ends this week and last at the plastic factory, dealing with a special project. Several 12 hour days, so I’m gonna burn this Punch Clasico, kill a Corona, then move on to throwin’ down some bourbon for the rest of the evening. I believe I’m feeling better already!
