  2. I've seen that posted among several SBrs. I'm a Dickel fan but never went for the 15yr. The initial BiB to me was a bit too oakey so I try to stay under that threshold. The latest 12yr BiB I think is fantastic, such an underrated pour that sits on shelves while the taters clamor to overpay for whatever FB/Insta tells them they need.

I had nearly forgotten that I still had it; was in the back of the bunker for a long time. It was really quite flavorful, more than I had recalled. When it was released, it was the focus of a somewhat hokey marketing effort, thus the "aged in Stitzel-Weller Barrels" label.
  4. We'll be in Nashville for a few days after Christmas. We're definitely doing JD, but the tour company offers a combination tour that includes JD & Uncle Nearest. To anyone whose been, is the Uncle Nearest worth visiting? Please bear in mind that we've toured a shit-ton of distilleries in Kentucky. JD has been on the bucket list for years. Not sure about Uncle Nearest. I've only ever tried one of their whiskeys, and wasn't overly impressed. Thanks!

BT to add EH Taylor product to BTAC line

I've read before that the 18 yr Marriage is a blend from 3 different Mashbills. I would assume that means MB 1, MB 2, and the Wheated Mashbill from the Weller/Pappy line, but I figure they have a plethora of experimental mashbills so maybe it's some other combination of three. I hadn't considered that it might be a rotational or varying release...that could be an interesting twist. It could be as you suggested, ~10 yr to 12 yr old and BiB, so kind of like BT's version of Old Forester 1924.

Who, that’s interesting. So it seems you’d be content with saving the money and going with a few bottles of the select. I came to the same conclusion with Woodford Reserve Double Double Oaked. I could buy no less than 2 store pick of the double oaked and still have money left over

    BOTM 05/2025 Old Forester Rye

I am not crazy about rye whiskey. I usually mix it in an old fashioned. Seems I lost an opportunity. Will look again

I said goodbye to this one tonight. While I enjoyed the bottle, I honestly didn’t find it any better than most of the Russell‘s Reserve Private Select’s that I’ve had. This is one I probably will not buy again, considering the price tag compared to the private barrels.

    BOTM 05/2025 Old Forester Rye

I’ve only come across this bottle twice and I snatched a bottle both times. It’s outstanding.

    BOTM 05/2025 Old Forester Rye

Very underrated rye that is good neat, over ice, or in an Old Fashioned. I usually get mint on the palate when consuming this as well. It can’t be beat for the price.

    Any details about that Jefferson's?
  14. As is Woodford with some of there special releases. I think this might be the future of all btls (700ml). I hope not. Business wise it makes sense but as a customer, I DONT LIKE IT. I think we will get less juice and pay the same or more for it.

BT to add EH Taylor product to BTAC line

Do you know what the mash bill was for that 18 year Marriage? I didn't have a bottle of that one and not sure. If it's BT mashbill #1 then an 18 year makes no sense, because that is the mashbill for ER17. That's why I'm guessing an age statement in the middle range (say 10-12 yr) ... something that is not hyper-aged like ER17 but yet significantly older than regular CEHT. They could also make the new EH Taylor BTAC bottle something that varies year to year (or even experimental like some CEHT special releases have been) just to keep the taters sufficiently in a constant frenzy.
  19. And I notice that 18 Year bottle is also only 700 mL. Seeing more and more of this in new special releases unfortunately. I tolerate it with scotch (so many of those have already converted to 700 mL) because the scotch country of origin standard bottle size is 700, but I'm less forgiving of American whiskey companies. It's purely a shrinkflation situation as I predicted.
  20. The 15 year is my favorite Dickel...

BT to add EH Taylor product to BTAC line

I wonder if this will be a rebranding of the previous 18 yr Marriage? We've got ER17 and Saz 18 already so that age range is already proven for BT products. But you could say it is already represented and they don't want half the new BTAC line to be the same age, so probably more likely we'll get something in the 12-14 yr range. And I say "we'll get..." as if this wont be another unobtanium bottle

What Bourbon Are You Drinking Spring 2025?

I couldn't decide on bourbon or rye. So why not both? KC BourbonXRye in the glass. Go Caps!!
  23. Passed through the area and stopped at Dickel today. Picked up a 15yr that is 20ish yr at $75 before tax and wondered what is in the $525 18yr?
  24. Post dinner sticking with the WT-G.

  26. In case it was unclear, the Heaven Hill 19 is not a bourbon, but rather a wheat whiskey.
  27. nice. still, randomly, one of the few bottles i have not had a chance to buy or sample. Seen it for $450 and up. can't do that. enjoy!
