Thanks....that makes my cheap-ass feel better. After tasting it, I should've bought 2-3 bottles. It's really great whiskey.... -
Total my bad. I didn't realize yours was the barrel pick. Mine was just the standard BiB 6 yr. Apologies. Enjoy your bottle!

I've never seen one either. And I also would have picked one up like you. Good find. FWIW I recently tried the OGD 16 year in a bar, and I have to say after passing on a bottle due to the price and poo-pooing it here on SB, I really enjoyed it. I might have been too hasty in passing on the 16. -

Good point, but I definitely was inside in the air conditioning hah. Hey I drink whiskey neat during the hot summer so anything goes (as long as I'm inside in the A/C). -
Hello All, With the summer heat here and us celebrating 4th of July this weekend, what else could we possibly be thinking about but FOOTBALL!!!!!! That's right, we are already getting set for the 2025 SB Fantasy Football League. We know we have one opening for this season that we need to fill and possibly more. So if you are interested, please post a message in our season thread over in the Social area and we will go from there. It is a fantastic group of SBers that play, and each season is very competitive, yet fun at the same time! Hope to see a new face or two this season! Cheers!

I love this one. Syrupy, low burn, oakey, but way less than anticipated. But not as thin & oakey as EC18. -

I used to have a lot of family in my home state of Ohio. With the exception of my parents they've all left. Ohio gets lots & lots of Weller, especially OWA & WSR. What created the secondary market and lines in Ohio? State set prices/MSRP were less than FMV. That arbitrage was artificial. I was always amused with "BT is greedy". If they were, though prices would have gone up faster...witness prices for Michter's 10, RR13, etc. Now that secondary prices on non-BTAC BT have dropped so much (I think it's mostly greater supply with some drop in the mania & a very uneven economy, luxury goods go first) AND Ohio marked up prices recently....well, the spread is gone, at least on OWA/WSR. And it's way less on W12, WFP, SFTB, etc. Also, OH seems to be implementing "one bottle per person". A friend in Dayton recently commented that he walked in an hour after opening and OWA & regular Blanton's were sitting on the shelf. Not enough arbitrage to justify standing in line for any amount of time. They still disappear within about an hour of store opening. He got an EHT SiB for MSRP an hour after opening. That would have been unheard of a few months ago. I enjoyed trading for the fun of it. Like baseball cards, but inebriating & ingestible. With male dopamine from victory in the hunt. Get SFTB and the like while traveling, trade for OWA (the dollar of the trading world) in Ohio, and get things I like for the OWA. I've been too busy lately to bother (drinking less, working & traveling more). That, and I now have a ton of stuff I love. There's just so much good stuff out there. Then I tried those dusties some of you brought to Bardstown. And understood what you mean by "it's not quite like it used to be". -

Went to my local Binny's to get a LE Oban 15 cask strength sherry finish, and they had the Little Book out at the customer service desk, and since I've never tried it, I got both -
I had a bottle of that maybe some 20 years ago. The real SW stuff. The note I recall was a distinct pluminess, like plum jam. Open and enjoy!

I got a chance to get back to my "ABC Liquors" today. Hadn't been in some time. But I though I'd check to see what ECBP they were carrying at this point. And to pick up some Vermouth for my Gin. Turns out it was an A125 so I got one. Three dollars cheaper than the A124 I bought, earlier this year. And then I discovered why. The A125 is only 118.2 proof, 10yrs 7 months as opposed to the 119.0 proof, 10 yrs 9 mos for A124. Of course, no B125 yet. Ah well. Maybe it is, splitting hairs a tad, but I guess it will be interesting to see the difference in flavor/heat, etc. I'll keep you posted, -

The new riff definitely has the more pronounced rye spice. This was the first pour of the jimmy Russell 70 year. I'm a turkey fan, so of course I do like it. I forget which thread it was that there was discussion about blending WTRB and RR10 where I mentioned 2 parts WTRB and 3 parts RR10 brings that pairing to 100.72 proof. To me that blend is a bit more complex than the Russell 70.
