What rye are you drinking or purchased 2025
Richnimrod replied to Mattk's topic in American Rye Whiskey
Nice timing, Anwalt! It is, after all, National Nurses Day today. -
What bourbon did you purchase this spring season of 2025?
MSB replied to MSB's topic in General Bourbon Discussion
I too have been seeing those around. And I too wish they were a lil higher proof. What price are they fetching in your area? 33-38 is what I've been seeing. - Today

Leipers Fork isn’t far from Nashville and it’s a cool stop, definitely worth a visit/tasting/tour. -

I've started seeing those now and then on shelves. A little higher proof ~ HMcK B.I.B. (seeing some of those too.) -
The trend to move from 750ml bottles to 700ml bottles
PaulO replied to rzelinka's topic in General Bourbon Discussion
I think the standard bottle size should be one liter. If alternative smaller sizes are available, that's ok too. Changing from 750ml to 700ml just seems like chiseling the consumer. (Chiseling was a practice of shaving a little off the bottom of standardized weights, in order to cheat each customer just a small amount, barely noticeable at the time.) It's all a matter of economies of scale. Minus 50ml (a good pour) from a one bottle might not seem like much, but consider how that works out per case, pallet, truck load, etc ... Now we're talking real volume. When I see a 700ml bottle on a shelf, I feel irritated, and don't want to buy it. -

In 2022, this stopped being distributed in Texas, but I guess they have enough stock to start distributing it nationwide again, because I just picked up a bottle on Saturday that was bottled in 2024. Glad to see it on a shelf again, but always wished these were a little higher in proof. -
Yeah, those have started creeping up in price too. What used to be a $55-60 bottle is now a $70-80 bottle in my area.

Both of our daughters preferred scotch when they wew teething - but not just any scotch, but The Macallan 12! Seemed to work, tho'. BTW, that was also SWMBO's favorite at teething time . . .

I'm not too upset about the small 'cash penalty', if the distilleries "bend us over" on this deal. It's the lack of lubrication that irritates..... -
Hmmm. I always thought they'd just swab a little on the teething baby's tender gums? Or, maybe I just assumed that....

sipping on some AAA while watching my wife prep for a party she is having tomorrow night. My plans are the basement or upstairs by 1730. Luckily, I am supplied on any floor of the house. -

I did a blind SBS. WT101 vs WT101 8yr Mrs Skinsfan poured them in the other room and brought 'em out one at a time. It would not have been blind had I seen them first as the 8 year is darker. I have to admit that the 8 year is the better of the two, but by a nose and I still don't think it's $20.00 better than the standard... -

The last one I bought was 80 proof and it's pretty damn good! -
I ran out of baby saz while cooking today. So I'm switching to a ritt store pick. They are not similar at all. But both won't mess with my palate to badly while making the meal.

I haven’t been able to actually talk with my friend. Speculation from a couple of folks is the driver possibly dropped them.
-
That takes some effort to destroy a pizza so thoroughly. What did your friend do to warrant such a delivery?
-
Yuck! That is unconscionable! I assume they will drive this business into the ground in short order. ...Then wonder why...
