  2. Picked up 4 more of the MMPS I helped blend back in March. Could be some bias going on, but damn, I’m loving this one and will only be happy to have several bunkered. Was also lucky to get an unexpected ETL.

    Four-grain bourbons?

Spirits of French Lick has a nice four grain if we are talking crafts
  4. Oh wow thanks for looking in to it.

    Four-grain bourbons?

The EH Taylor 4 grain was quite good. Also, the Woodford Wheat is actually a 4G recipe, and very good. I get your point though. Most likely, a distillery cat knocked some wheat into a mash cooker or something…
  6. I'm conducting an interesting exercise tonight, sipping side by side two four-grain craft bourbons with good reputations (Frey Ranch and Laws Four-grain Bonded) and then finishing things off with a good craft bourbon with a traditional rye-based mashbill (FEW) I guess I just don't get the point of a four-grain mashbill. If you want the softness of a wheated bourbon, why muck it up with rye spice? And why cut the rye spice with wheat? I can't say these two pours weren't enjoyable, there was good music playing, but I just think the four-grain is dull stuff. The
  7. Crowd fund/patreon someone to go to over there and over-night us some jdm Kentucky Bourbon??? How’s the law on international whiskey shipping these days?? the whole cases/trunk comment makes me wonder if Japan has their own version of Harry/Harry-san? Instead of OG, he drinks and stashed the EW12?? Twilight zone stuff

What bourbon are you drinking summer 2021?

Finishing off this bottle of Blanton’s. The last 1/3 wasn’t nearly as good as the first 2/3, or just my imagination.
  10. Believe it or not, Dickel actually has two mashbills. The 84% corn mashbill is what is used in Dickel branded products. They also have a 70% corn mashbill with 9+ years age on some barrels. I do not know what Diageo utilized the 70% corn mashbill for in their world lineup, but it does exist (if anyone can ever figure out Diageo’s decision making logic with bourbon, please let us in on it). BR Distilling initially acquired a lot of the older 84% corn mashbill barrels, so early releases clearly had the Dickel profile. In the last few years they acquired a lot of barrels with the 70% cor
  11. This stuff is familiar yet unique and different at the same time.
  12. Went in a store I've never been in near the Albany area, and passed on all. Most notably MM101 at $69.99 and a 1.75 of ER for $120. Was very tempted to grab the BT Kosher Rye Recipe at $69.99, knowing how good it is, but passed on that as well.
  13. DAMN. Cases of the EW12 would be in my trunk.

  15. move liked all the La Freche’s I’ve had. Don’t remember if I’ve hd this one or not, but you should enjoy it!
  16. WOW!!! Just now getting around to reading this!!! Why? Because the 80 proof doesn't mean anything to me; nor does the "all 10 recipes". How about the "at least 5 yr statement? Yep, that's where ya grabbed me!!! As I have searched for freezer pours, with several failures, I figured the masses were on to something, but not intriguing enough to give it a go. The 5 yr + needing a freezer pour, has me sold; or at least willing to give it a try... Thanx Steve for baiting the hook!!!

What bourbon are you drinking summer 2021?

Been doing a bit of the Eagle, myself; from the fridge, no less. I didn't like it from the freezer, but the fridge is a nice choice. Whuda thunk it!!!

You should be pretty safe if you find it. I'll not give you a history lesson on the subject, but rest assured the the FDA will not inspect nor allow the "real deal". If you do come across it, it is more than likely just rice/pork dressing in a casing. The "walk in way" at a grocer or gas station is crock potted, but it's best on a grill where the casing gains a nice crunch...

What bourbon are you drinking summer 2021?

The last couple of days at work were better than Monday. But that’s not saying a whole lot. I’m on the back patio relaxing yet again, and the Eagle has landed. Biba! Joe

BOTM 06/21 Four Roses Yellow Label

Bottling looks identical and believe it said straight bourbon, difference in size 700ml vs 750ml. I don’t know, maybe they it’s slightly different.
  23. Picked up the new George Dickel 8 year along with the excellent new version of 1783. And done man cannot live on bourbon alone, trying out a new gin.
  24. About $39 for the EW12 and $65 for the WT13. But...the plane tix too/from Japan are the expensive parts!
  25. Passed on this. Good price though.
  26. They had a few good bottles at the state liquor store this week.
