What bourbon did you pass on, Summer 2019?

In Florida it would be North of $150... I still haven't figured out Florida's distribution and pricing.

What Bourbon Are You Drinking? (Summer 2019)

BIB day (many are, as I’m a BIB Freak)! Started the day with OFBIB 1897, switched gears with GDBIB. May hit OGDBIB later...
  6. Refrigerated bourbons are quite popular here. My go to in past years was HHBIB. This summer it has been T. W. Samuels and HH 90 proof. Both have proven to be very tasty from the fridge .

I'm still not going to get my first taste of Old Fitz. 13year $299
  8. I have noticed a couple of posts with chilled bourbons. Most I think have been 4R & maybe one other. I thought I would give this a try with my last few pours of a dwindling bottle of OWA. After pouring my first & letting it sit for maybe a minute, I though it was wonderful, as did my visitors. I put the second pour in the glass back in the freezer & got a few more degrees of chill on it. It wasn't nearly as good, but as it sat & warmed up a bit, it was back to wonderful... My visitors agreed! Personally, I drink most, neat. I don't care for a splash or ice, so this was worth another try with other bourbons. What other bourbons chilled in the fridge or freezer have been deemed a success or failure? Or do you think this is just dumb? All opinions welcomed...

Blasphemy, I say!!!! You're referring to beer (and probably most craft whiskies). Good bourbon is completely absorbed by your body and is extremely nutritious. There is no waste produced from bourbon for the body to excrete. Among its benefits: Aids your digestive tract Gives your hair a luminous shine Makes your skin look radiant Sharpens your awareness Helps restore lost brain cells Produces a pheromone that makes you more attractive to the opposite sex Give you the energy of a 16yr old (which is necessary because of the pheromone effects) If you don't believe me, come to Bardstown for the Sampler or KBF and see for yourself how 3-4 days of drinking whiskey makes SB members young again! Still don't believe me, ask Troyce, he'll back me up.

What Bourbon Are You Drinking? (Summer 2019)

Right out of the freezer, it was excellent!!! Buuuuut, I put my second pour, in the glass, back in the freezer & got it just a bit colder. It wasn't nearly as good. My company thought it was a different bourbon altogether. After it warmed for about 5 min, it was back to lovely... 2. Why do you need a bottle of degreaser next to your computer? Damn, I knew this question was coming! Shoulda' called Vegas!!! That is actually my decanter. Note the intense burnt orange. hehe

I'd have to agree considering the local price on 750s of ER (that I passed on yesterday) is $47.
  14. Joe's referring to this one. Haven't been back to the restaurant since I took this picture to see how much, if at all, its changed

  16. Well, as much as I was thinking this is probably going to be "whiskey of the year", back to old school turkey rye...…. No. I've had mine open for 2 weeks now, and its ok, good at best. I have a WT 101 rye open from 2005 and it's quite a bit better. I know it's going to get better, but I didn't find anything special about this rye yet. I still love my Turkey, but this to me didn't do this MK line up any good.

  20. My girl and I did the Jack Tour this Saturday. I hadn’t been in 15+ years. We did the “Angel’s Share” Tour.. This came with a SBS flight of #27 Gold, Sinatra Select, JDSBS, JDBP, and the JD Rye.. The BP is spectacular IMO.. She’s not a brown liquor fan, but seemed to enjoy the #27 which is very light to me at 80pr.. sweet being finished in maple barrels. I bought a bottle of the special edition of White Rabbit Saloon, which isn’t anything “special” really. From my understanding it’s just a throw back to when the Old #7 was offered at 86pr. Supposedly it can only be purchased in the state of TN. I’ve included a few pictures. Heat index was 100ish out, but the cave where they draw their water from was a pleasant 56 degrees. Nice!

What Bourbon Did You Purchase Today, Summer 2019

Found a place off the beaten path that had some of these left so I thought I might as well put a few in the bunker.
  22. I had the last pour of a locally made, barrel aged apple brandy today from the Piccardy/Normandy region. This is one that based on the type of wine bottle it was put in it was likely bottled in the 70s. Really fantastic stuff. The way this worked was most locals in these small farming villages would have a small orchard. They’d produce there own cider. A guy with a still on a wagon would come to the villages and hang out at the bar. The locals would come and he’d he’d make brandy from there cider. I believe a combination of laws changing plus the old timers dying meant this awesome tradition is gone. Picked up a couple of bottles yesterday from a neighbor. Sadly these weren’t aged in the cider barrels and from the bottles I believe where bottled in the mid 90s to early 2000’s. These seem to have come of the still much hotter than the previous bottles from the 70s. Still once you add a little water it really opens up and it clearly has that apple smell on the nose and palate. I should be able to bring back a bottle of this.

What Bourbon Are You Drinking? (Summer 2019)

I found A119 to be overly oaky and overly hot. It definitely always got a few ice cubes, while I can do B519 neat. I do prefer it with a single cube as I think the temperature drop and proof drop help open it up.

What Bourbon Are You Drinking? (Summer 2019)

Thanks for the review. I picked up a bottle at a Duty-free store in Canada. I haven't cracked it open yet. I'm with you on MM. It's an acceptable pour if nothing else is available. Mrs Skinsfan likes Maker's , a lot. I like the cask strength, (if it's on sale), but there are a lot better offerings for the price.

What Bourbon Are You Drinking? (Summer 2019)

It appears me and the in-laws are enjoying this. The 101 MM truly seems to just be likely regular MM at 101. Not complaining it’s nice but nothing complex. It has a nice dryness very different than most MM which I find to be sweet. No chocolate or anything as like the private select BS with the stave selections.
