Found a picture of Mr. C. A. Van Rensselaer. Not sure that helps, but it seems his company was a wine merchant back in the day.

What rye are you drinking or purchased 2024
smokinjoe replied to Mattk's topic in American Rye Whiskey
I don’t think I’ve had a breakfast at Bob Evans, but I had a customer in Troy, OH who was an always lunch visit, and we always went to the BE down the road. It was always GREAT! I’ll go there any time! -

I received a Mellow Moments email from 4R today announcing the introduction of 2 new mash bills. 43% Rye/52% Corn/5% Malted Barley *Now their highest rye mash bill 10% Rye/85% Corn/5% Malted Barley *Now their lowest rye mash bill I am not positive, but it does not sound like this is aged and ready for bottling. Possibly, not even commercially distilled, yet. But, certainly created.

What bourbon are you drinking this Spring - 2024
Grady330 replied to markandrex's topic in General Bourbon Discussion
Yesterday was James Pepper, Doc Swinson and a New Riff. Not everyday brands but damn good. -
I bought both the EC BP and the Larceny BP for A124 near MSRP. ($80 each which isn't bad for SWFL) I liked them both. For $80, I'll every release of EC BP, and have for years.

In my opinion, MM is "good". I've always said that I think it might be "great" with another couple years on it.
-
Passed on HMcK 10 for $62. Just can bring myself to pay that when I know how much less I have paid in the past. Plus, I still have a few in the bunker.

I took her to church, then out to eat at Bob Evans (along with some other family members). That's what she said she wanted to do for Mothers Day.

The Significance of "Batch Numbers..."
aquavite replied to aquavite's topic in General Bourbon Discussion
We shall see. If that does happen for me, it will, more than likely, be due to me buying and trying a bottle only once, and not liking it. So far, that hasn't happened (i.e. I have liked and consumed the entirety of all the bottles I've bought). It's sort of why I'd prefer to buy (at most) an 875ml or less of a "new item," before considering a 1.75L. That, or if it's a pricey item (eg. I did buy a 200ml small bottle of Johnny Walker Blue, just to taste it). OTOH I did buy a full 875 ml bottle of Lagavulin 16 and not regretted it. Again, my consumption of alcohol at this point in my life is a bit restricted due to Type II diabetes. So, I have to be very careful of my choices, especially if the product does contain a lot of sugar or corn syrup. Thankfully, most std. whiskies do not, unless added in after the fact. I've had to restrict my consumption of "cordials" as a result. No more "Grand Marnier" for me. But I won't give up my Pere Blanc. I just have to figure out how to get it imported. But, in any case, only 1-2 shots per day. That's it. -
What did you purchase this Spring? (2024)
yobber76 replied to markandrex's topic in General Bourbon Discussion
I bought one this week also, at Total Wine in SWFL. Paid $20, it's pretty good for that price point. -
I finished my bottle of compari with an americano while grilling some chicken

Another nice Spring evening in Indiana. Lots of yard work. Too much, if you ask me but it made my wife happy. Finished off a bottle of HH7. It is a very enjoyable bourbon. Next up, WTR 101 while watch Home Town on the deck. -

I heard about that no-no bid. That was soooo close. Tough way to end one. Good to see Fried had a great outing anyway.

Yes that sounds great. As far as Denver goes, I bet your friend could find a local facebook group there. -
Umm that didn't come out right. I need a do-over! I meant something along the lines of music, singing or entertainment.

Welcome to SB! I’ve not tried this site, but am familiar with it. I believe many have found info on their pre-pro bottles within its database. www.pre-pro.com Good Luck!
