    Empty Bottle Suport Group 2024

Man down, man up, part #2. I had an empty handle of MM, so I decided to go ahead and make a batch of my HH BiB Blend. Most of what was left over went into the other bottle of my HH BIB Blend. I still have some Dant left as it was a liter bottle, but this too shall soon pass.

    Empty Bottle Suport Group 2024

Man down, man up. FWIW, I don’t like the new MM 101 label near as much as I do the old. I just bought this new label bottle. It will be opened shortly. I have a couple of the old label bottles in the bunker. I will keep at least one around for sentimental reasons. Hey, MM was basically my gateway bourbon. FWIW, I was at one of our get togethers in Bardstown with @Vosgar when the new, domestic MM 101 was released in 375’s at the distillery. A shout out to @BourbonJoe and @fricky for buying a bottle for everyone to taste. After @Vosgar and I had a taste, we immediately went to MM to grab a couple of bottles.

Well not me. I loved the old Small Batch and have not liked the change.

What did you purchase this Spring? (2024)

It looks like my gal did dip the handle. The long drip is on the back. It’s 50/50 on the MM 101. The long drip is on the side. I hardly almost never plan a trip to the liquor store. If we go shopping, I’ll take a look see at a liquor store. Where we go shopping determines what store I’ll stop at. Sadly, there’s only a couple of non tater stores left in our area. As for my jargon here, my posts here are usually, “So, we were out and about today. Stopped by a liquor store on the way home. And so on and so on.” Just changing things up and trying not be so boring.
  6. Ahh, ok got it. Thought you were inventing a new language or something. I figured @mbroo5880i understood your gibberish, because you received a Like from him, haha. At any rate, I did notice that your regular "MM girl" dipped your Maker's bottles with her red wax signature. Well done Joe!

What did you purchase this Spring? (2024)

Basically, SOS DD. In other words, my usual spiel in x’s. Gotta try and change things up a bit ya’ know. “So, we had to go out today. May as well stock up. What can I say?”
  8. Whew, that was close! Thanks for talking me back from the ledge.
  9. As one OCD guy to another, I never bought the 15 either. Youll be ok.
  10. Yeah, but what about my OCD?

    Cocktail Hour! - 2024

Boulevardier with KC12 because why not and yes - it’s freaking amazing.
  12. Nothing against the C15, it’s fine, but there’s no reason to get one as long as C16 is available. That stuff is fantastic!
  13. Thanks for the feedback. Nice lineup.
  14. The 85th anniversary is a 13 year old released in 2021. It's in a wood box similar to (or maybe the same as) HH27. That one isn't open. Between the 17 and 18..18 was way better. The 20 year corn has gotten a lot better with some air. It's different obviously but I like it more than the 17 and less than the 18. For the ECBP, batch 12 still reigns supreme for me. The others were (I think) a 10 and 6 hazmat. The hazmat was last.
  15. I had these bottles that I never got around to opening, but today was the day. All are believed to be Barton distillate (the 1792 definitely is) so I thought I'd do a little casual SBS. I don't currently own a Calumet 15, so granted it's the glaring omission in this lineup. My ranking: Nose: C16, 1792, C14 Palate: C16, C14, 1792 Finish: C16, C14, 1792 Overall: C16 in a landslide, C14, 1792 At 106 proof, the C16 has a 10 point advantage over the C14 (96.2) and the 1792 12 yr (96.6) but that doesn't explain the results fully. The extra oak note in the Calumet 16 combine with the cherry bomb notes to provide more depth of flavor that the other two bottles just can't match. The C16 just offers another level of complexity that wins out. Maybe I'll look for a Calumet 15 to compare these to.
  16. How did they stack up? And what's that 85th Anniversary bottle? Maybe I missed that one.
  17. In addition to the Calumet 16 year, I decided to go ahead and open my other well-aged Barton bottles, the Calumet 14 year and the 1792 12 year. A casual SBS conducted with my feedback in the 'what are you drinking' thread.
  18. Nothing special tonight just Elijah Craig NAS. I hadn't had it in awhile and Costco had it cheap so I picked up a bottle. It is good for a low to mid $20s bourbon which is what I paid. However, it is normally around $30 in my area. That's why I usually opt for KC9, WT101 or OF100.

  20. Another broken cork, this one in a pre-1984 tax stamped Glenlivet 12 Tried and true decanting process took about 3 minutes, back in original bottle with a modern cork
  21. Had a HH17/18/20 tasting, an ECBP "pirate bottle" sbsbs, and Al made an appearnce at the end.

    The current round of empties.
  23. Just tried the 18 last night SBS against the 17 and it was light years better than the 17. I've had the 17 before and it's always just "ok" to me but it has gotten better with some air. The 18 is in a different league.

Another great SAOS SiB down. Droppin' like flies around here!
  26. That sounded good this afternoon so I followed your lead. Just cracked open my Calumet 16 as well.
