What BEER are you drinking in 2024:
Skinsfan1311 replied to MTNBourbon's topic in General Non-Whiskey Alcohol
I bought a 4-pack of this back in 2020 and I drink one a year to see how it evolves. This is the last one. As the label states, it ages well. Very well. -
Regular oreos dipped in some EW doesn't sound half bad though...

Nice view! -
That's A.I. generated gibberish. Always the telltale sign of an A.I. rendering.

It poured rain this morning, now the Sun’s out and it’s getting Hot and Humid. This Bud Light Lime is perfect at this moment. Very thirst quenching. It went very fast… -
What did you purchase this Spring? (2024)
Grady330 replied to markandrex's topic in General Bourbon Discussion
James Pepper, Doc Swinson. Expensive but well worth it. Cheaper than Blanton's SiB , but much better. Have stopped the hunt for Blanton's, even though my LS, puts aside 2 for me every quarter, I've told him to sell to others. don't know why the flavor of Blanton's has changed or maybe it's me... -
Yeah, OK I admit it…I only bought this bottle because the cool medallion thingee proclaims that this tequila was aged in a Blanton’s barrel…

I see WA around here fairly often at tater pricing. A few stores will keep it still at msrp but it is stashed and only offered to “good” customers.

Haven’t seen any in 5-7 years or more

Cicada-Infused Malört promises ‘lobster-like flavor sensation’, says Chicago brewpub
jvd99 replied to fishnbowljoe's topic in Industry News
That’s a hard pass for me. Did some cursory research on edibility of cicadas for dogs, and they can carry all sorts of little nasties, like bacteria, funguses, the pee all themselves. No thanks. -
And yet someone’s gonna buy it.. ugh..
-
A nearby LS has it. $219.00

What rye are you drinking or purchased 2024
Richnimrod replied to Mattk's topic in American Rye Whiskey
Yesterday, after my volunteer shift at the park, I re-visited that Rare Breed Rye signature bottle I picked up at the gift shop a few weex ago. Didn't really get to spend time with it last weekend at the combined B'day celebrations. Man! That is an "in-yer-face-spicy" straight rye at barrel proof (112.2-pr.). I really like it! I followed a couple small pours of that with some JDSR, BP (134.3-pr.). Not an actual side-by-side; but, my impression is the WTRBR is way 'bigger', even though the JD has over 20-proof points on it. Either would be plenty in any cocktail one might choose to try, and for sure, all one might want in the way of flavor when sampled neat. I wish I'd have grabbed two of the WTRBR.... -

I can't quite make it out. There appears some foreign language on the package.

When I seriously started this hobby, OWA 7 year was the same price as the standard version of Maker's Mark (there was only the one version of MM back then). If I went to the better stores, they had OWA on the shelf about half of the time - so I might buy a couple. Kahn's was an early participant in selecting single barrels. You'd go there some times and the shelves were full of 750ml and 1.75L with the little extra sticker. They got a deal price buying a whole barrel - and passed the savings on to their customers by knocking a buck or two off the regular price.

What bourbon are you drinking this Spring - 2024

Started off tonight with OF 100 from the decanter. Gonna head downstairs and see what tickles my fancy. I'm guessing we'll stay in the Brown Foreman family tonight. -

And the donut shop in @markandrex's neighborhood is open for business!

I'm not sure if that's real, but if it is, I'm totally in!

I always wanted to do this so I just started. I picked up a bunch of 2oz boston rounds from Amazon for about $25. The price was $15 for 10 or $25 for 72, so I bought some for friends... I picked a few basic bottles I had and figured I would start reviewing them this weekend. I didn't want to mix up too many proof points, so I kept it mostly under 90, with some 101 added to the mix I started with a non-blind review of Evan Williams, which is sort of my baseline mixer. I am sort of dry- running my scoring criteria. I gave EW a 55 using my criteria. Strengths were aroma, balance and value.

My fRYEday pour is New Riff 6 yr Malted rye. I really like this one. It has quite a bit of that cola flavor note that their bourbons have. It's an interesting counterbalance to the rye spice notes.

Thrived until someone gave you something that wouldn't pass the BiB test anyway! -

I would have probably thrived as an alcohol tester for kings in medieval times. Or maybe not.
