  2. Great Kentucky Derby. The winner won by a nostril. Celebrated with a few pours of Old Mo Fo 100.
  3. also found one of these on a trip to visit fams in middle GA, on the bottom shelf at 34$. Only one random bottle. yes please. HM10 was 72, and HHBiB 7 year was 45. I'll take this one:
  4. I like them both for different reasons.

    Chi-Town!

The only retail store with which I'm familiar is, actually, in Skokie, just north of Chicago. It's at the end of the CTA "Yellow Line" (formerly, the Skokie Swift). At the "Dempster" stop, there was a store called "Gold Stadnard Liquors." It's where I got all my stuff out there. Not sure if it's still there (been over 35 years), but I do recall it.
  6. Ahh OK. I predict that Maker's will need to reduce the price of their PS bottles in the very near future. They are simply overpriced for what they are, and the bourbon market is slowing down rapidly. The bourbon bubble burst is coming.
  7. I've never seen them either. This was part of a PS sampler 3-pack. I can't recall what the staves combo were on the other two bottles. I think that the 750ml bottles are pricey and I doubt that I'll buy any in the future, unless I can try it first.

  9. Down in Jacksonville visiting with my two best friends. Some bottle tastings in the hotel before going out for dinner. All were liked, with the Bardstown being the most surprising on how good it is.

    Chi-Town!

I'm not a regular in Chicago, but I know we have some Illinois members here on SB. You've already identified Binny's as a must see stop, so that's a good start. I might add ... I just know about Delilah's bar, historically one of the top rated whiskey bars in the country. I haven't been in years, but I remember having a pour of Booker's 25th Anniversary there many years ago. Very memorable. Worth a visit if you have time to stop for a few pours. Good luck.

    The Significance of "Batch Numbers..."

I may have jumped the gun on this. My favorite store told me it was on the shelf, but that may have been an optimistic employee...

    Chi-Town!

Belmont and Narragansett has a binnys and a Richs foods, I've maybe had more luck with the Richs.
  13. I think they were trying to replicate the 4R single barrel picks...
  14. I notice this is from 2021, but I don't recall ever seeing any MM private selection in the 375ml size. I wish they offered more in that size because I'd be more likely to try several different ones in a smaller size/price combination, even if the price per volume is higher than the 750. The problem with MM PS offerings is that there are just too many of them on the shelves, .... too many to choose from, so I tend to not buy any of them anymore. This is simply a failure in marketing, something that Maker's usually excels in above all else.
  15. This was gifted, and a very thoughtful one at that, but I still prefer the MM101. That said, it's very good.
  16. Curious how the two OF stack up.
  17. I picked up a bottle of Rare Breed Rye at the Distillery Gift Shop last weekend . . . and had Jimmie Russell sign it!
  18. Btw fellow SBers, @Mattk is definitely our resident rye expert on these pages. The dude knows his rye whiskey. Lucky to have him here!
  19. Ahh ok I wasn't aware. Mine is definitely the new one on the right. Thanks

  21. In KY with some friends.
  22. Enjoying some good pours for derby day. Working right to left.
  23. I’m on the EWSB train. Random case showed at up at a spot near an errand today. One per customer, but solid at 38.00
  24. My annual derby day pour. Cheers!

    So, whatcha smokin?

Hate to disappoint, but I don't smoke. Never started.

    So, whatcha smokin?

I was thinking today would be a rain washout, but it’s been quite nice. Enjoying some Sun, warm temps, an occasional passing cloud, a light breeze, and some tunes out front with an OGD114 and Rocky Patel Disciple.
  27. They are pretty different. Got the new label today.

    Cocktail Hour! - 2024

My Derby Day Mint Julep. Another strong mint year, in the garden. I was going to use the Woodford, but wanted a little more oomph, so went with the 4R SmBS at 104 proof. Plus, it still kept the Run For The Roses theme!
