  2. One does not simply pass on Blanton's Gold! (Unless priced at secondary.)

  4. Going back to the 1792 12 year this evening. This one is a bit too unbalanced on the dry tannic astringent side. It has a very good nose with a nice sweet oak profile but unfortunately it doesn't translate to the taste and finish. I'm going to experiment blending this one with either the 1792 Bonded or the small batch to help balance it out. I'm thinking the fresh banana note of the BiB will help out this whiskey.

What did you purchase this Spring? (2024)

Another find that I technically didn't buy. My wife was TDY in South Korea the last 10 days, and she picked these up in the duty free shop on her way back. We'll do a blind between the NCF she brought home and a regular Rare Breed this weekend.
  6. FEIW, I really like the dickel x Leopold bottling...
  7. A little Jack watching the Phillies (yesterday's game)
  8. Congratulations to you and your son!

Gonna ride the wave as long as possible. Here’s todays grabs. FWIW, I had a chance at Blanton’s Gold And Taylor Single Barrel a week ago but passed.
  10. Here's the 15 for your collection... I only tried it once in a restaurant in DC, but I really enjoyed it.

Wow! Where did you pickup that one? I picked up a 135pf last week at Port Royal.

  13. Playing hooky today after a busy weekend. We attended our oldest sons graduation from GWU in DC. It was the longest ceremony that we've ever attended, and we've been to a few as he's earned a handful of degrees...this one is a post-graduate "Master of Laws" in Government & Procurement law. The speakers and presenters took forever and the guest speaker for commencement, Nina Totenberg,(an NPR correspondent), was cringe worthy and.....but I digress....we're very proud! OGD BiB in the glass

1792 High Rye gives up its last tonight.

    These are such good bottles.
  16. Indeed, I like all of those bottled in bond brands. I believe they are all the same mash bill. HH has something like 67 warehouses, so it must come down to barrel selection for the various profiles. Dant reminds me of rye bread. JTS Brown is liquid Cracker Jack (the sweet popcorn with a prize).

MM101 is probably my favorite iteration of MM. I don't dig the paper label though....I thought that that the gold lettering on the earlier released are beautiful and I'm going to assume that you saved one of those gold letter embossed bottles too?

    Bourbon MEME's

That sort of reminds me of another t shirt I once saw. "Instant A** Hole - just add alcohol"

Man down, man up, part #2. I had an empty handle of MM, so I decided to go ahead and make a batch of my HH BiB Blend. Most of what was left over went into the other bottle of my HH BIB Blend. I still have some Dant left as it was a liter bottle, but this too shall soon pass.

Man down, man up. FWIW, I don’t like the new MM 101 label near as much as I do the old. I just bought this new label bottle. It will be opened shortly. I have a couple of the old label bottles in the bunker. I will keep at least one around for sentimental reasons. Hey, MM was basically my gateway bourbon. FWIW, I was at one of our get togethers in Bardstown with @Vosgar when the new, domestic MM 101 was released in 375’s at the distillery. A shout out to @BourbonJoe and @fricky for buying a bottle for everyone to taste. After @Vosgar and I had a taste, we immediately went to MM to grab a couple of bottles.

Well not me. I loved the old Small Batch and have not liked the change.

What did you purchase this Spring? (2024)

It looks like my gal did dip the handle. The long drip is on the back. It’s 50/50 on the MM 101. The long drip is on the side. I hardly almost never plan a trip to the liquor store. If we go shopping, I’ll take a look see at a liquor store. Where we go shopping determines what store I’ll stop at. Sadly, there’s only a couple of non tater stores left in our area. As for my jargon here, my posts here are usually, “So, we were out and about today. Stopped by a liquor store on the way home. And so on and so on.” Just changing things up and trying not be so boring.
  24. Ahh, ok got it. Thought you were inventing a new language or something. I figured @mbroo5880i understood your gibberish, because you received a Like from him, haha. At any rate, I did notice that your regular "MM girl" dipped your Maker's bottles with her red wax signature. Well done Joe!

What did you purchase this Spring? (2024)

Basically, SOS DD. In other words, my usual spiel in x’s. Gotta try and change things up a bit ya’ know. “So, we had to go out today. May as well stock up. What can I say?”
