  2. Exactly! In STL the consumers are so smart, the stores have to trick us into getting F’d.

Show Us Your Stash - Volume 5

Nice. I happen to see where you might be able to get one as well. I'll send you the info.

    Japan or Kentucky?

Can we start calling these stores that gouge rapeholes? The $150 other iteam, how does this work? You’re supposed to buy $150 worth of other stuff to be allowed the opportunity to buy $200 W12?

What Bourbon Did You Purchase Today (Fall 2019)

A year or two back I got an email from a store that had one for $150 or so. I didn't know what it was at the time so I waffled, and as soon as I did a bit more digging it had already sold. Haven't seen one since. Would really love to try it though. I too would pay more for Armagnac than bourbon too, I think generally you get more for your money when it gets over $100. There aren't many bourbons that I feel are genuinely worth more than $150 or so. That said, there's some awesome Armagnac in the $70-120 range so I don't usually spend more than that either. But yeah, an Armagnac from the 1800's really puts things in perspective!
  7. Pulled this down for a small pour tonight.

    Cocktail Hour 2019

I have had this cocktail (w the Plymouth!) and it truly is a great one. All points o' the compass. Buffalo Trace is a great choice for the bourbon, think it has the stiff upper lip and body to match that holds all the rest of this bouillabaisse, TOGETHER.

Jonathan got the first ever single barrel pick at Bulleit. It’s speculated to be from Lawrenceburg, obviously. He picked two barrels, this was the second. Looks like these will all be at 104 proof. I grabbed a couple bottles of each. Tried the first pick (not my bottle) in a smokey cigar shop, which in itself is a beautiful thing, but always plays havoc with my whiskey taster! Decided to crack this one in my room. Very good so far!

    Crown Royal Hand Selected Barrel

I missed this the first time around, but now that I see it, any suggestions on stuff I might find that fits this description? I had a pour of a 27yr single grain SMWS bottling from I think Girvan. It was pretty good.
  11. Well I see they learned from the other place...
  12. Haha. Tis the season to be Mary.

    Yet another new one.
  14. I've been kind of all over the place lately. Tonight it's a WTKS PS while other nights this week it's been a FR PS, VOB BiB, WSR and Blanton's Gold. I seldom know what I'm going to have until I start checking out the open bottles and see what hits me, and so far I've picked well. All have been very good
  15. I think I have batch One? I remember it was a mail order item from a store in DC back before anyone cared. Luckily I had the sense to recognize something good. The link to purchase online is long gone from J.A.M. website and it seems as though I may never get a replacement. Probably why I’m so conservative with my bottle. This stuff is delish! Great work Nancy!

  17. Jeez. Is that the usual place (did they raise prices?) or some new rapehole?

Picked up a Little Book 3 today. Because I'm a sucker for Beam and it was available, no chasing or LE hoops to jump through.

Nancy.. Is $149 plus tax. Close to MSRP or is that after a bit of a markup? I only ask because thats where i bought it and i thought that was pretty close..your comment that $159 isnt too bad made me wonder where we should/could expect it to be priced.

2014 OFBB sample from a friend. Lots of butterscotch. Glad to be able to try this one.

What Rye Did You Purchase/Drinking (2019)

I did not purchase this during this visit, but my LS saved me a small sample of the latest WP Boss Hog the WP rep had brought for them to try. The aroma is pure nostril candy to me, and the very small sip I took burst with flavor and it stayed with me for a long time. Very glad I have a bottle to look forward to opening soon.

It's "item", but phonetically spelled by a person whose native language isn't English and who can't spell for shit. Pick whatever nationality works for you It's kind of like me trying to spell Scotch names by how they're pronounced, total disaster, lol. How the hell is Ledaig pronounced Le-chig????

@Supercharger, well, I guess $159 isn't too bad as it goes. I've seen it out there for $200, $300, even $400+, which I think is terrible. What some of these retail stores charge is absolutely shameful. It's highway robbery really. I mean, I'm very proud of my work, but $300 or $400+ for Cigar Blend is just absurd. I've paid around $400+ for some nearly 60 year old vintage Armagnacs before, and once I even paid $1200 for an 1892 vintage Armagnac. But for a Bourbon that has 13 to 20 year old components, er.....no thanks. At any rate, I digress. I hope you enjoy CB batch #14! It's one of my personal favorites. We just bottled batches 15 - 18 this week. Cheers, Nancy
