Any word on 2008 OFBB?

It was supposed to have been released almost a week ago, and I still haven't heard anything about it from Brown-Forman. Usually they send me an email and there's a press release that goes out. So far, nothing. Their webpage for OFBB still has the details on the 2007 bottling. Anyone heard anything from Brown-Forman?

John Hansell has reviewed it on the Malt Advocate blog, giving it an 83. His review says it is schedule to be released in mid-October. Anyone know what is causing the delay?

I think Chuck mentioned in the OF Repeal Bourbon Thread, that the BB was going to be delayed, so as not to conflict with the launch of the Repeal Bourbon.

I knew I said it somewhere. Yes, I was in Louisville for the annual GGB birthday celebration on 9/2, but instead of Birthday Bourbon they rolled out the Repeal Bourbon. Birthday will be out mid-October. See the post under Repeal Bourbon for the rest of the story.

I was told today that the delay in releasing the 2008 OFBB is a "glass problem" with the bottles. ETA is "sometime in December".

My wholesaler has told me that it is due in either the end of October or beginning of November, and he just spent time with the regional Brown-Forman rep two days ag and asked him about this.

I just tried BB for the first time. One of my local stores had one bottle of the 2006, no 07. I got it and like it a lot. I wish they would have had more I'd go back after them. I'm going to have to slow down on this bottle I guess to make it last lol

Has anyone seen or heard anything about this yet? I am having new bourbon withdrawals and the Birthday has become my most anxiously awaited release.

I went looking for it a couple weeks ago, but came away with an '03 and '07 to go with my '05 and '06. Anyone know where an '04 might be? I'll post when the '08 hits around here. The '06 is the only one I've had open, really good stuff, so I got a backup.

It's going to be a belated birthday bourbon.

They had to change their bottle supplier and had some problems with the new bottle, but everything is okay and they are bottling it now. The whiskey was selected and tanked months ago, so it will be the whiskey it was supposed to be. It won't appear in stores until the new year.

Thanks for the update Chuck! Strange, this bourbon I use to badmouth for the bottle shape has become one of my favorites...

So, with that trouble they aren't by chance changing the shape of the bottle are they?? :skep:

Boy this bottling came and went in a real hurry here in No KY. IMO, it's one of the better expressions. I loved to bunker some more but the local merchants all say they can't get more.

What's the availability elsewhere? I'm going to be in the Phoenix area in a few weeks and would like to score some there if possible.

I'm told that the new bottle is similar but not the same.

I got the '08 the other day. I put it next to my '03, '05, '06 & '07. It is similar but slightly smaller around and taller through the base, flatter on the bottom. I haven't opened it yet.

I do agree to that John. A little on the light side but Very fruity and nice. The nose is outstanding!

They had the OFBB in the Maryville MO liquor store and I just couldn't pull the trigger on it. I tried OF 86 and didn't like it and just couldn't see myself buying another OF product. No matter how much everyone says how good this is.

Got 3 on the way from a post yesterday. Thanks for the info. I opened another one of my 2009s last night in honor of a friends birthday. She doesn't like bourbon, but I was looking for a good reason to open another.

Once again, not impressed. Overly hot and lacking a good flavor I could pick out.

I've heard nothing but good things from numerous sources about the 2008 though. The single in my bunker has sat untouched for quite a while. The only OFBB I've had to date is the 2009, but that won't be for long. I'll do a side by side of the 2008 & 2009 once they arrive.

I really liked the 2007. I'd love to find more of that.

The 2008 was okay.

Based on comments here and Hansell's review, I didn't bother to try the 2009.
