Guess I come from a family of boozers. My parents favorite drinks were blended scotch. My Mother liked Black and White and my Dad liked them all but preferred Chivas. My grandpa made his own wine and always had a bottle of arak in the house. I always remember a stocked bar in the living room. I can't tell you exactly what was in it, but there was a variety of alcoholic beverages. I remember my Dad used to keep two Chivas bottles in the bar. One for people who drank it straight or dusted it and one for people who insisted on Chivas for their cocktail. A trick I used a couple of times when I had friends who thought they could tell the difference between cola flavored whiskies, or should I say whisky flavored colas? I remember in San Antonio giving someone Passport scotch poured from a Glenlevit bottle and listening to a dissertation about the wonders that a single malt imparted to cola. Don't worry, if you come to visit me, I wouldn't try to fool any of you guys/gals. For sure not the ones I've met at the gazebo. I've only done it to people who insist on drinking the most expensive stuff you have, but flavor sweet drinks with it instead of enjoying it for it's own sake.

Passport scotch....oooohh...I have a very foolish young man memory of drinking that at a party....bleehhh....got nice and sick. I must have thought it was ok enough to drink....but I have not had it since.

Until he stopped drinking entirely, my dad was a Budweiser and Jack Daniel's kind of guy. He didn't care about the taste, just the effects. Not exactly what you would call an astute imbiber.

I, on the other hand, am the complete opposite. I prefer to take the time to appreciate the taste and refined craftsmanship that goes into a spirit. It can be just as beautiful as the best art -- be it visual or auditory. It takes masterful skill to create just as anything else and, to me, that's a truly spectacular thing worthy of admiration and respect.

What I'm trying to say is, my father thinks I'm a pussy.

Uncle, that is classic!!!:lol: For the first two paragraphs I'm thinkin' "Oh brother". And, then the punchline. Well done. Best laugh of the day, for me. Thanks.

:toast:
