Hi everyone,

I was given two bottle of Burbon when a friend of the family passed away, I know they are old ( 25 years plus anyway) is there a way to actually determin the age? One is a bottle of Old weller and i also have a bottle of Ezra Brooks. I have looked in the past couple of months to try to find the age but came up empty. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

There are various ways, but look at the base of the glass, often on the right side embossed are two digits, e.g., 82, which would suggest the bottle was manufactured then and usually it would have been filled with bourbon and sold not long after. If your Ezra Brooks is in a bottle stating, say, 82 and contains 10 year old whiskey, the whiskey would have been distilled no later than 1972, and so on. What does the bottle say on the base?

The Ezra might be issued in '69, probably in fact.

What are the nos. on the other?
