Manhattan Brewery (a Chicago brewery) was associated with Al Capone and other Outfit figures during Prohibition but appears to have been "normally" run after Prohibition ended and Al was rotting in jail. Lou Greenberg, the Outfit financier owned and ran the brewery. The labels of various brands either made or bottled there is interesting...this is just one brewery...if you think of all the brands every produced by U.S. brewers....and how many still exist...it is a miniscule total. Being way before my time...I am not familiar with any of the brands provided. It appears they got into trouble suggesting beer was made in Canada or Wisconsin when it wasn't.

It changed its name to "Canadian Ace" in 1947 and continued for some time after..closing in 1968.

A story that probably never will be told is just how mobbed-up the legal post-Prohibition brewers and spirits producers really were. One can feel confident that the Outfit did not give up those businesses without a fight and there was never, in the post-Probhition era, an effort like there has been in Vegas and subsequent gambling meccas to specifically combat mob influence (regardless of how sincere or successful you may feel those efforts have been).
